People who freak the fuck out at you when you hiatus from one game, but are still playing at another. God forbid you feel ignored or burnt out or unhappy with a game and need to take a break from it, all while playing in a game you actually are happy with.
Bonus points if they completely shut you out when you come back, because CLEARLY YOU'D RATHER HANG OUT WITH YOUR OTHER FRIENDS instead of asking what made you decide to hiatus from their game in the first place.
i find it stupid when they lie about their hiatus, saying they're too busy for rp or swamped with real life issues, or some other reason, only to be twice as active in their other game(s).
As long as you didn't give some impression that you were busy for all games, totally cool with it.
But if you said something like you have exams and won't have any time for RP at all and then are playing in your other game (and quite actively), yeah, not going to think too highly of you for the lack of honesty.
Villains who act totally creepy, violent, or weird, and then get mad when characters don't like/don't trust them.
Yes, I know there are good characters who get suspicious of villains for no reason but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about villains who do blatantly creepy things that would put most people off from wanting to be friends with them, and then get mad when they aren't treated as master manipulators.
Case in point: I once had a character brag to my heroine about how many people he'd murdered, and then the mun got mad when she didn't want to be friends with him anymore. You just told her that you kill people. What reaction is she supposed to have? And that's just the beginning.
For every good guy who gets a ~bad feeling~ for no good reason, there's a bad guy who does or says obviously questionable things and then gets mad when people are angry or creepd out.
It's fine on an IC level since many villains lack a cohesive sense of self or are narcissistic enough to think the world will love them no matter how low they stoop, but the players themselves not being able to understand why you're playing your character as no longer liking theirs after they do something bastardised is a big problemo.
I've never understood people who play outright horrible characters, villains and get so bent out of shape when other characters react like normal people and side eye them and get as far away from them as they can.
Or people who play villains and don't want to play out repercussions of doing bad things. Or people who play their villains as untouchable and all powerful. I know it depends on the villain as they come in all shapes and sizes and powers and what not, much like a hero or good guy, but even then, the people playing them seem to forget they're bad, even if they're some how redeemable and all that, there will be repercussions for things they've done or will do.
Characters won't trust them right off, and if they do, that can be easily broken by being oh... idk... a bad guy.
Take for example I play a villain and he's pretty much the troll type who gives no fucks and just enjoys being bad in every aspect. He once killed a man graphically over the communication device used in game and people reacted accordingly, and it was a way to totally change CR for him in game. But I knew that and I'm completely accepting of how people see my character because of what he does. I expected some characters wanting to hero it up and go after him, to bring him to justice. That it would get a reaction out of characters he had close CR with and was 'friends' with. That it would essentially tell the entire game LOOK AT ME I'M FUCKING CRAZY AND HURT PEOPLE. WATCH OUT.
And I love every bit of it. So again, I really can't understand people who want to play villains but then... really don't.
Boggles my mind I say! But I think because of the type of villain I play I don't have as many hold ups as other types of villains? Maybe. Idk.
'*shows link to a post meme or something they made for a character' 'hey guys tag me please :D' 'guuuuuuys tag me' 'tag me tag me tag meeeee'
i will tag when i tag you just WAIT YOU IMPATIENT FUCKSHIT. ONLINE OR ON PLURK OR ON WHATEVER DOES NOT EQUAL TIME FOR TAGGING HOLY SHIT. THIS MAKES ME FUCKING LESS LIKELY TO REPLY TO YOU EVER THOUGHT OF THAT?
it's worse when you have a thread going with someone and they won't stop spamming you with TAG ME TAG ME TAG ME TAG ME I KNOW YOU TOLD ME YOU'RE STUDYING FOR FINALS BUT TAG ME TAG ME TAG ME I KNOW YOU JUST GOT HOME FROM A LONG DAY AFTER WORK AND YOU'RE DEAD TIRED BUT TAG ME TAG ME TAG ME
at that point i feel more than justified dropping the thread no matter how many sad plurk emotes you spam at me jesus fucking christ
replurking a link to your goddamn post several times
if it's an important post like mod information? fine. if it's just your latest character posting about how they need a job or can someone help them pick out clothes or something equally boring, why the fuck do you have to replurk it three or four times? throw up a link once and deal with it, none of this 'replurking for the morning/evening crowd' 'replurking in case someone wants to tag me' 'last replurk I promise!!!' shit
chances are if you have to plurk it that many times and still no one is tagging? its not because they didn't see it.
THIS. Bonus points if they posted it relatively early in the first place, and then when they're dissatisfied with the turnout they replurk the next day with the flimsy "people are actually awake now!" excuse anyway. You're not fooling anybody, asshat!
I hate "for the time-of-day crowd" replurks in general, but I was particularly gobsmacked when someone I know replurked a love meme link for the time-of-day crowd.
I've done this with player plot stuff or something I want certain people, who rarely check their reading lists but see stuff on plurk more often, to see who are on at different times of day. I wouldn't do it if I could trust those people to check their fucking reading pages. So I plurk once in what is the evening for me and once in what is the morning for me, because a few of these people are in widely different time zones.
However, people who do it more than twice just baffle me, especially when it's a really unimportant post. Or when they leave messages like 'last replurk I promise!!!' Then it just sounds desperate.
I hate it when people use me and my character to get A/C.
As in, they'll tag me just enough to make one A/C proof and drop the thread.
Then, they'll go to another person's post and talk about how my character had a great party and then drop that thread when they get their second A/C proof.
I wouldn't mind if they actually did something or if this was just a one time thing. But they do it all the time and they literally did nothing to have anything to talk about. And they didn't talk to me to handwave anything. The make it look like we have great CR but there's nothing.
Feeling like the only person who actually tags quickly. When I get a tag, I will always tag it back within 24 hours unless I'm on vacation or hiatus or sick as a dog or something. And it's really frustrating when I wind up waiting three or four days for people to tag back in return. It's even worse when people then Plurk about how fast tags make them uncomfortable because they feel like they can never tag back as quickly and it seems to take twice as long. Sorry? My ability to tag you back quickly isn't supposed to be an intimidation tactic, I just tag fast.
Can we form a Fast Taggers Committee or something so we can all just play together and the slower taggers will stop being intimidated and we can just actually play at a speed we're comfortable with and that doesn't make us bored?
generally for me, tagging back fast is more like 'within an hour of the tag', and then it doesn't intimidate me so much as make me worry I might frustrate them by not being able to match speeds. so long as the other player doesn't mind that I mostly tag once a day (of late it's been more like every other day due to rl things but that's wrapping up now), then I honestly don't care how fast they get back to me.
When you get stuck with a player who won't acknowledge they have a problem with you, but it's conspicuous in that they'll tag everyone else in the group. To the point they'll check on others after a plot with negative IC consequences for the group and even get hints that something that should worry them about your character has happened, but they never so much as breathe in your direction and, indeed, quickly steer play away from that. Who seems to think it's rude that I want to acknowledge and address that there's a problem.
Is there even a point in the network comm/logs comm format? People do in person threads in network comms and in [ ] style in the logs comms, and why shouldn't people be able to do network posts in prose if they want to (especially video posts)? It would be much less confusing if games just had one comm to post to and "in person" was just another format like video/voice/text.
Seriously getting driven over the edge by passive aggressive comment headers.
- I'm so sorry this tag is so late please forgive me uguuuu
It's been three days. Seriously, what did you think I was going to do? Quick Ma, break out the shotgun one of those wankers is making me wait for tags again. This one is infinitely worse if I took longer than that to tag them.
- I hope this is okay if it's not I can totally delete
If you write a comment like this I think you're either one of those players who is ~oh my god so intimidated~ by everyone or a big name wanker. If I don't want to play with you in a meme I'll just not tag you, I don't need the pouty comment header. If you do it in a game, you're not exactly leaving me much choice but to pretend it's okay. What am I going to say? No, fuck off, how dare you tag me?
- Uguu I hope I'm doing this in the right place!11One
I just have no response for that one. I don't know, could you maybe read, pm me and ask, or curb your enthusiasm long enough to see what everyone else is doing?
And by the way I really don't need you to apologize every time you edit a comment for spelling. Spelling errors is a thing that happens.
Bonus points if anyone using any of the above calls themselves a loser or an idiot or mentions something totally irrelevant like them needing to go to sleep or grocery shopping. Shock! Horror! The person I'm role playing with has a life! Life will never be the same again!
i don't mind if someone ships a psl ship with someone else, but at least make a private plurk to each other to gush over it instead of the game plotting plurks where everyone can see.
yeah, i do know that i sound butthurt about it, but it's been going on for almost everyday, and it's annoying to see.
