i'm implying that more people are familiar with juggalos, thus making the joke more accessible if it's about them than about some shit western audiences wouldn't know about if it wasn't for die antwoord.
humor that's more accessible generally lands better.
Someone on my timeline replurked a request for donations to help with some child custody issues as a result of CPS taking their very young siblings from a home. It's the much older sister trying to get the kids out of foster care and into her care. I empathize, but there are no details about the home the children were removed from or even who had custody before they were taken, which concerns me. It makes me worry that maybe the children really weren't safe, not to mention the fact that the person asking for money hasn't said anything about how they will care for the children, instead vilifying the foster home without backing it up and calling the children liars.
it's actually a huge problem that children can be easily swayed into admitting things that are untrue or accusing adults of things that are untrue by authorities. there have been all these studies about it and I do understand that, but it's not heartening when all these other fishy things stack up along with it.
also CPS doesn't just swoop in and take children without an investigation unless the children appear to be in a serious immediate danger. if anything, a lot of abused children aren't removed from homes when they should be. the foster system is already overcrowded enough.
So, are you a yuri-obsessed neckbeard or an edgy, hyper-Tumblr SJW-wannabe? You're trash either way, but I feel like we should at least sort you into the right bin.
this is very much a case of ymmv depending on state/province/country. i've seen cps called on parents for the dumbest shit, out of ignorance or spite. i've also seen kids that should be removed not be removed. there are plenty of times where kids are taken out of perfectly safe homes and wind up abused/killed in care.
as an ex system kid, my view on social services isn't positive. you're right in that kids can be coached into saying things that never happened (had that happen with my sister), but there are also a lot of kids who say things that are ignored or brushed off, by both parents and case workers. the system as it is is completely fucked up. don't even get me started on the complete lack of fact checking or background checking before someone becomes a foster parent, particularly when it's so lax all on its own, let alone in comparison to adoptive parents. and foster parents can have kids for years, depending on foster type.
the foster system sucks and it's one of the reasons why they're cramming everyone in group homes instead, which also suck.
CPS definitely gets some false calls. That's why they investigate instead of taking the children immediately upon the accusation. They also get a lot of calls where things seem fishy to an outside person but where nothing is going on because sometimes kids really do just get hurt a lot. Long story short, my ADHD-related injuries got CPS called on my parents.
I agree that the system is in need of a lot of reform. It's unfortunate how broken it can be and there are issues that come with privatization, as well.
I never said I was one of them. you just seemed to be having a hard time understanding why people had a problem with bad guys over good guys as if it was a case of who was more ic, and that isn't what people get iffy about.
I generally like you but I think you push way too hard for "cute" dynamics all the time. Your characters are varied and interesting, so why do you always want the exact same CR with all of them, even when it doesn't make sense?
Also, I think you have a habit of getting excited and taking other people's ideas. But since they're pretty basic character plot things it's hard to prove and is more annoying than anything. It's just a sense I've had, since often I (or people we both know) say "I'm going to do X next month" and then you suddenly do it the next week.
You're decent at base characterization so where is your creativity after that point?
I hate prompted logs and heavily planned-out threads. I miss being spontaneous and when people didn't shake and cry at the idea of coming up with their own thing to do.
god that show made me super uncomfortable as a kid. the only real episode i ever saw was the extremely unapolgetic one about puberty, which i'm convinced is the only episode they ever made for how often it reaired on tv. it was my first experience with secondhand embarrassment to such a degree that i refused to let it be on tv when my parents were home.
>complete lack of fact checking or background checking before someone becomes a foster parent
I have a few people on my timeline who would disagree with you, but then this may be a your state may vary. They had to go through a lot of shit to become foster parents
