this is connected to what bugs me so much about him. if he wants to be a super femme sparkle princess, then fine. but he acts like any gay man who isn't a flamboyant queen is "straight acting" and therefore oppressive to him. i saw him whining about this on plurk once and i couldn't hit mute fast enough.
it was a good popcorn flick. it's not unique for an action movie, but it is unique for a star wars movie (like another anon said, there's grittier action scenes than most of the other movies, a focus on relatively normal people doing a side mission vs chosen ones fulfilling an epic destiny, etc). the acting is weak at points, esp felicity jones', but there's nothing as bad as anakin's rant about sand. if you're still unsure, then i'd suggest going for a matinee viewing to save a few bucks.
it's not going to get better. as dwrp continues to shrink only the saltiest and most bitter of anons will remain, everyone else will drift off to more promising hobbies.
is it still watchable for people who aren't very familiar with star wars? i like fun action movies and the summaries have sounded interesting but i don't know all the lore and backstory
i anticipate an encore performance of all the shaking, crying, death threats, and screaming on plurk and very little tagging. everyone will have a million hours in a day to reblog articles, bash whatever group of people is currently under the microscope, exaggerate everything into apocalypse-level panic, and rile each other up into a frenzy. but they are just going to be too stressed to tag, bb srry, maybe next month.
