cheap grocery delivery is not common in the usa outside of a handful of large cities. curbside pickup is becoming more popular. working class americans probably wouldn't use either unless it was popular in their city because most working class americans have to shop for the best prices.
Even as someone with a strong muse from this show, seeing characters from it on dear_mun back when LJ was the active site made me cringe. Especially Kamina. The show's so fun but the fans were insane.
I'm usually not one to hate on a fandom for being full of shippers because EVERY FUCKING FANDOM is full of shippers but dear god I can't even google this shit without finding fanart I did NOT want to see...
I live in a Midwest city with over 100k people in it. We do not have grocery delivery, nor do we have uber/lyft or public transport. I am in no way condoning the behavior of these dumb bitches because there is no reason for them to be so entitled and ungrateful, but in places like this you really have no choice but to have friends and family drive you places that aren't in walking distance if you can't drive.
a lot of big cities in places like the south and the midwest have terrible public transit and shitty infrastructure. they just weren't built with that kind of thing in mind and have only gotten as big as they are because of urban sprawl.
see nashville, tn for a particularly egregious example.
try rping keith, shiro, or lance sometime. if you don't explicitly mention you aren't interested in it, everyone will assume you're down with whoever you're playing being assumed to be fucking the other two.
i live in australia and this is fairly normal for most coles supermarkets. i've gotten my groceries delivered plenty of times, and i'm by no means rich and i don't live in a big city.
americanon here, for the delivery fee i'd pay to get groceries delivered from walmart, i could make a week's worth of meals. it's not even remotely worth it.
i live in canada and even in the smaller town i'd stayed in, grocery delivery was definitely a thing for the big markets like safeway and thriftys. heck, a lot of grocery stores have online websites to shop/pay at for delivery.
not to mention i can't tell you how many movies i've seen where older or inferm or housebound people have groceries delivered to them and that's how they're found dead (or make a lifelong bond with said delivery person, idk)
it definitely is a thing, but i also think it's like public transportation in that it really varies depending on where you are. some very small towns have great versions of both, some don't. some large cities are the same. asking 'do they have' isn't a dumb question, but outright saying 'no, because i live in a better city and we don't', is just the wrong way to do it.
Why the hell do people think a game being a safe haven for known wankers will keep them in one place? Nothing is stopping anyone from trying to play in more than one game and that includes wankers. The only thing that would keep them out is mods banning them.
I can certainly get not wanting to ban someone due to something that happened years ago or potentially grudgewank, but why not just say each report will be looked at and action will be determined on a case by case basis depending on how recent and/or severe the past occurrences are. So that would cover recent stuff like bunnylulu outright admitting she won't bother accommodating requests to not be tagged by her which is pretty recent, along with very severe stuff like Second, Het and Ken.
I agree that a shitty low risk game would be a great thing. But that should be low risk and standards on apps, playing and activity. OOC behavior certainly should still hold to the same basic standards that exist in all our communities.
