for me personally, i see non-anon crit as a better way to open up a channel of communication and collaboration. what are the odds that the anon that crits me is going to have the thread tracked so that when i respond, they can see it and have a back and forth with me? if i get crit, i like to have a discussion about it so that i know exactly what i did, if there was any justification for it (such as character development), and how i can avoid the problem in the future.
it has nothing to do with being ~afraid~ of crit, but more that it seems too...i dunno, detached? you can just dump whatever crit you want on anon and leave, and that makes it hard sometimes, especially if the crit is vague.
not to mention, going to someone else and trying to verify the anon crit usually leads to unwanted asspats. "oh no, you're doing just fine!" no, bitch, i don't want to be fluffed, i want solid confirmation.
anyway, that's my take on it. i know a great deal of rpers who do prefer non-anon crit are either titty babies or wankers or skirting around actually getting crit, but i'm sure others have a different take on it than that.
i've had a couple of crit and runs. one of them was from somebody who was definitely trying to stir shit, but the other one just ghosted for no apparent reason. it's why i prefer sockpuppets now. they have all the benefits of anon crit and i can still shoot them a pm if i need to.
i wasn't making excuses, i literally said that i want crit. i just want crit with a discussion as it helps me pinpoint issues better than just a wall of text and no further input. some people are fine with the other method and more power to them. i was just offering up a reason why someone might want socks over anon that isn't just "shit-tier wanker avoiding crit."
i'm gonna crit you, now, though: you need to learn how to read.
