Guilty Gear may have a plotline that is arguably just as complicated/convoluted, but Ishiwatari's character work carries it along *miles* better than Mori's did in Blazblue. even Ishiwatari's waifu-bait (pretty literally applied in Elphelt's case) characters are significantly better. they're just night and day.
and while Ishiwatari can't write a bad tune to save his life, it's obvious how much better his work is when he's also writing and creating the characters associated with the music.
Yeah, Elphy and Dizzy are definitely very waifu-y but it feels like they're more than just to satisfy someone's fetish, and the convolutedness feels more... idk? Natural and a result of characters doing shit, while Blazblue it feels like it's convoluted for the sake of looking deep and intricate when it's really not?
idk - holy orders? is a tune I can't stand, but that's more due to my pitch sensitivity.
holy orders pretty liberally applies that progression into the 7th in the chorus, yeah. adding in the violin in overture probably didn't help in that.
tho while i don't dislike holy orders (i love to jam it out when i'm in a certain mood), i do think magnolia eclair is a more fitting song for ky as he is now.
Robot-Ky's Holy Orders is just SOOOOOOOOO much better than the original. I remembering hearing that theme as a teenager and being heavily impressed.
Mind you, I'm one of those Nobou Uematsu fanboys. Gulity Gear is honestly the better series across the board compared with BlazBlue but I do love Kokonoe's overall design and personality a ton.
But I do find it ironic just how popular BlazBlue is in comparison to Guilty Gear and I swear it's because GG was stalled for years.

you are literally the only person i've ever seen express that opinion. especially about a song that essentially is just another song pitch-shifted awkwardly and put through a frequency sweep.
