Rydia seemed more shocked than anything but she totally lost most of her strong personality, at least Luca's company seems to do her good and she seems to recover while the story proceeds.

Golbez's story was okay, as were Kain/Ceodore and Edward's ones. I agree on how Edge needs to move on, go flirt with Izayoi or something, and Porom's tale was a disaster. At least they turned the bard in an incredible badass.

Rydia actually didn't have a strong personality anywhere but SNES. She can be a little pouty and put her foot down but it's actually closer to the Japanese versions of the game and novelizations.

As for Edge, I don't mind the unrequited love angle. It's the fandom that ruins it. He isn't really pushy about it and there's nothing in canon that suggests she HAS to respond. It's fandom that twists it to entitlement it being gross. I think in the games unrequited parts that Kain was really dealt the poor hand. What were those 17 years for if it didn't change anything at all?
