there's got to be a better way to describe this. just say "star wars was weird and inconsistent about bb8's gender, so i'm going to play them as being feminine by droid standards but not really bothered by being called he/it/etc. they're a tiny metal rolly ball, they don't give a fuck."
Agreed. I feel like they could have said "BB-8 is genderless and fine with being called he/it/she/etc. I'm going with s/he and hir pronouns in the app out of personal preference." Boom, done.
and writing that clearly. i've played off their cassian, it was a jumble of ideas and words that managed to be really hard to reply to AND long at the same time.
