Now I don't know what they've got in countries that aren't Freedom Land, but for everyone who has a pet but has no extra savings for things like emergencies, I'm going to introduce you to the godsends which have kept my pets breathing:

Pet insurance, and Care Credit.

Pet insurance isn't terribly pricy, and if you go for only emergency treatment, even cheaper! Pet insurance is reimbursement-type which means you pay upfront, but that's where Care Credit comes in! Which will give you a wad of money to pay whatever it is you need to pay. When your insurance reimbursement comes in you pass it back to Care Credit and suddenly you're not actually spending 2,500$ to get Pussy's teeth waxed or whatever.

Do some research and take preventative steps to make sure you're never caught flat footed and have to beg all your plurk friends for money they don't have to spend on your damn animal. It's not hard, and it's not even expensive, even for the people who can only get a few cheeseburgers a week. Skip the pizza, don't go to that con, don't buy that video game, get your pet insurance. Their lives may damn well depend on it.
