If someone has over 100 icons or whatever maybe they don't feel that describing expressions and tone for such a simple tag is necessary?
In a hobby where people obsess over icons that they throw tons of cash for them I'm surprised this hasn't occurred to any of you. Icons are generally what make DWRP stand out from other RP mediums.
+1 anon from above here, and I can't speak for the other anons but the people that do this in the game I'm in use either their default or a bland modelface icon for the majority of their tags. If they were actually using icons in the way you describe, it would be a lot less of a problem and just mildly annoying.
this time an anon said that apping a black panther character to a game was "virtue signalling" so apparently it's come to mean "playing a character who's not white"
in the context of this thread idk if there's a good way to claim that someone who apps a black panther character to a game couldn't possibly want to play them
And before someone says that icons are supposed to do this for you, I've had dialogue-only tags from people who use an icon that has a symbol/object rather than the character's face, use no icon at all, or use the default icon without changing so no, that doesn't help.
a) because not everyone wants all of their accounts tied together in case they're avoiding someone/trying a new thing. b) not everyone wants to be contacted outside of rp.
this might be a social hobby for you or some, but not for everyone. some people are okay with posting a muselist because they want to pimp out who they play and maybe get offers for other psls/games to play in. some people just want to keep their rp circles separate. i'm more surprised that you actually need someone to explain this to you.
I am convinced whoever posts the gen text meme times it out so they push down the smut picture prompts meme. They match their timing up too perfectly, no matter the weird hour.
i've seen them post it before the smut meme before. but it might be the same poster as the smut meme with a sock account, because they do seem to post at/around the same time.
most people post on memes to fuck around while only needing minimal ooc contact. personally i dont really care what a player's name/plurk/whatever is, or what other characters they play, as long as our current thread is fun and pms are open on their journal if I need to ask something
if it's in games or places where you're advertising characters ie emp then it makes more sense to want a list of muses and such, but even then it's not actually essential to rp
Are you me? I came close to apping the same character to a game around the time the arc wrapped up in canon, but my problem was how people reacted to villains in rp. (characters 'sensing' something dangerous with no evidence, making call out posts before the villain does anything, it being nearly impossible to get good plots going) People seem a little more grounded about villains nowadays but I've been burnt playing even 'morally ambiguous' characters to the point I've been put off trying to a real bad guy like the Reaper.
the particular thing about it in this case is that this is enforced. people who might not be comfortable disclosing all this shit up front are SOL because the mods scold them if they don't include everything.
i know a couple years ago(?) thorhugs made an attempt, memezilla. (he proceeded to throw a very weird fit over people giving thoughts on how it was going when he...asked for thoughts on how it was going, so people rightfully dropped it like it was hot.)
