kataang was an awful ship, but i warmed up to it in lok when aang grew up hot as fuck.
i don't play from this fandom; but this is the part that bothers me the most. at this point is feels like grooming to say that they're a romantic item, and I don't want that shit anywhere near me.

a lot of sheith shippers take aspects of shiro's failed relationship with adam and twist it to make keith seem like a better romantic partner for shiro.

i agree with everything you've said but you must admit, it was canon that made the adam vs keith relationship contrast in 7x1. right after watching that episode was the only time i ever thought "wait, are they going for sheith after all"? since before that i never thought they would (not even with the ilu since they added the brother line to make it clear what it means). it probably has to do with the fact it was animated while adam was still only shiro's bff and the dialogue was changed very shortly before release, so they probably were comparing shiro's friendships (which even then they shouldn't because like you say, keith is bordering on obsession and adam left only because he didn't want to see shiro destroy himself and wanted to be respected). now that more stuff has been said and episodes have been released it's clear to me again that it won't be happening but 7x1 by its own was very... yeah.
imo, if you were actually designing a game to generate wank, you might design something a lot like Duplicity. sex games tend to attract more bad apples than gen games do even if a lot of the other players are fine, and it also seems like the mods are trying to generate a lot of ic conflict. it'll be interesting to see what comes out of that.
a lot of people love the fact that their actions are being "monitored" on the network but i'm sure soon enough people will be bitching about how they have to walk on eggshells. the mods can do this now because their game is brand new but they'll burn out on this shit soon enough.

i don't mind sheith in itself, but god i fucking hate when sheith fans shit on adam and act like he's the devil for (apparently) not having been shiro's ~perfectly understanding and devoted boyfriend~.
it makes me think that these "fans" project their own mental/emotional issues on shiro and adam's relationship, especially since i've seen many that "adam was a selfish asshole for not waiting for shiro" and "if adam truly loved shiro he wouldn't have ~abandoned~ our ill precious gay asian woobie!" and "keith loves shiro more than adam ever did!!! he'd never leave him!! waaaaahhhh!!"

i only know of two fictional characters with my name, and neither of them are so popular that i'd see them thrown around. i'm actually super grateful for that when i think about it in the context of your thought, because man it'd throw me off so bad.

i feel like they're projecting onto shiro because of the woobie status. its like the ship with keith is about them projecting, than actually writing the characters, which puts me off a lot of shippers who have this attitude about adam. you know how every ship has a faction where one character is treated as the prize the other has to take care of? that's how i feel these people see it and it makes the ship feel awkward.

the thing with the roy player is the ed didn't even tag them for a ship, it was gen. so their response to them came off as rude since the roy said they only wanted two characters from their canon to tag them. when those are your preferences you should say so.

0 build up aside from some vague ~hints~ which i can understand considering how uneasy the networks are. but even then they barely interacted with each other in the last season even though they’re supposedly dating. honestly the romance in korra was worse than atla and i wish they’d just left her single after awkwardly shoehorning the mako/korra romance. otoh i’m glad that a lgbt romance did make it through but i just hate how rabid and righteous some of the fans got for a ship that felt literally thrown in at the last minute.
