Yep. And SE canceled Tabata's projects in the past to have him work on FFXV before after Nomura flaked out. The recent cancelation of this new project plus the blame game, forced him out.
Which is kind of sad since he seemed to really care about giving the fans what they wanted.
I'm convinced he's the only one who protected that game. By turning it into a 'game as a service' model, he was convincing the higher ups of continuous profitability. In exchange, we got so much more than if he hadn't gone with that model.
I just want to hug him and apologize for the people who don't realize he did everything he could, including attempting to protect the story Nomura had built (regardless of how much or how little) at the time it was passed to him.
Tabata salvaged a shippable product out of what Nomura was jerking off over for years and deserves respect for that and doing what he could to satisfy fans.
