is this for the english or japanese side of the fandom? because i know currently there's a lot of noctig art floating around in the jpn fandom in support of a "noctig only event" in regards to a doujinshi event like comiket, except catered to a specific variation of a pairing (being noct/ignis). most of the art gets tagged with ひらいて赤ブー. it has nothing to do with making the pairing canon.

I already see all the usual type of wankers latching onto Catra as their baby lesbian representation and I can tell she's going to be mangled in fandom. I know the show is going to make her a sympathetic villain and that's cool, but the same people who latch onto Azula as nothing but a poor baby and who only play up that side are latching onto Catra now, calling her the next Zuko. This always happens with female characters on the darker scale when fandom calls them baby lesbians and suddenly the ones who do awful things just get written as doing nothing but blushing and talking like tumblr kids. I'm more into F/F but I hate when people make characters like Azula and Vriska into nothing but baby lesbians and forget the cool stuff that makes them an antagonist in order to write them like a blushing anime girl.

I haven't watched the whole thing but I think it's pretty okay so far. My only complaint is how they handled Seahawk. Originally he was never on She-Ra's level but he was at least good at what he did and now he's being overshadowed by a bunch of kids who are mysteriously better at sailing than he is despite having no experience on a boat and I can't help but feel that's because he was Adora's original love interest and the writers don't like that.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem if Adora/Catra or whoever is the endgame ship but why'd Seahawk have to be made into an annoying idiot? It gives me a real "bad fanfic" vibe where the writers just want to kneecap a character so they don't interfere with their preshus ship.

decided to let this play as background noise while i did some chores and i ended up getting sucked into it. it's better than i expected, but so far it has the same problem that a lot of other kids' shows do where the villains are more interesting than the heroes. i don't want to join the "poor woobie catra" bandwagon, but the fact that she has to claw (heh) her way to the top makes her a more compelling character to me than adora

finished watching and i gotta say it reminds me a lot of 90s my little pony for small girls in the art direction, the color palette, the writing. that's great since its the actual target demographic for the show

but seeing young adult and actual adult fans claim its the best thing ever and latching on to lesbian ships to do their "uwu perfect rep" takes makes me wonder if they've never actually seen good stories for our age demographic

my one big gripe is i couldn't stand entrapta. everything about her was annoying. her entire attitude at the prom and seeing it as a "social experiment" is every 00s cringy "i'm not like those popular vapid girls" attitude. i couldve done without that entire storyline
