see, i'm the opposite re: the animation. i'm not just talking about smoothness vs choppiness. from what i've seen of the fight scenes in the new she-ra, the action had better storyboarding and more intetesting choreography, and more effort seems to be put in the direction in general.
i'll agree that choppy animation can be charming, though. i was really into reruns of the herculoids as a kid (objectively speaking, it's no better than the cartoons i mentioned in my last comment, but i dug the aliens and monsters), and while i wouldn't sit down and watch it now the choppy 60s animation makes me smile a little.
