it's not cynical, that's literally why they made he-man and she-ra and gi joe and a bunch of other cartoons in the 80s, and that's why they were so low budget and low effort in the writing. that's not to say there's anything wrong with enjoy the art style itself, but don't pretend these were meant to be grand artistic efforts.
(i personally find the style charming myself, although i didn't get to watch them much because even their watered down violence was too much for my uptight parents, so i have less nostalgia tied these. i got stuck watching the even lower budget ones like superhero globetrotters and angel gary coleman.)
