i haven't visited dwrp and any of its associated communities in 2 years and it's amazing how little has changed. the mcus, the manga girl pb femboys and the female star wars ocs are all still there. it feels like i never left!

im back in rp after a long hiatus and it's been a nice way to decompress, i already know exactly what fuckery to expect from you nerds at least

this is a nice way to look at it. i clicked through bakerstreet a bit earlier and it felt strangely comforting to see that nothing much has changed, even though i myself changed a lot in the past two years. i think i'd feel more nervous about jumping back in if everything was different now.

i think it's changed over the last couple of years, at least the social side of it feels like it's changed. everyone seems much more anxious and tired all the time than before (which is totally understandable). it feels like there's less tolerance for stupid bullshit but also lots of people on a hair trigger and basically scraping through day to day, which impacts rp habits as well. i feel like it's much more common now to drop threads because you don't have the energy for them and simultaneously be constantly looking for something new to sustain a brief serotonin high

(said as someone who definitely does all of the above, god i'm so exhausted)

Do you realize how difficult it is to juggle the identities of 48858492 WoL ocs on dwrp who all expect your npc to know their journal info for your character to pretend they were the one there instead of just the placeholder mc everytime you get tagged?

I knew owl personally and it felt so good to watch it happen tbh. Years of leching off friends never pays off.

it is customary and normal in dwrp for npcs to treat malleable protags as coming from, basically, an alternate timeline from their own. this is not new and the WOL doesn't get to be the exception all of a sudden

no like, if you have a problem playing against malleable protags then don't play characters from a game with a malleable protag, this isn't quantum fucking mechanics
