Now that it's been pointed out, it's painfully obvious. We've got a double event today, too.

"Things I'd Do"/"I Would Like To..." posted less than half an hour apart. It even looks like the second one poorly copied the first one's code and attempted to hide it.

Then "Snowed In"/"Body Heat" less than 20 minutes apart. Technically different, but close enough in theme to fit the trend.

The fact that they can't even wait an hour is ridiculous.

Think I just somebody playing Hotohori from Fushigi Yuugi. I'd love to see more 90s characters.

anon, not for nothing, the game may not be to your tastes, but

you were looking at a game that wears its influences (the yakuza games and youkai mythology) on its sleeve. those were very purposefully selected jp words, that absolutely have meaning in context.

now if you're not into that, that's fine, but that doesn't mean it was randomly slapped together.

i wouldn't really consider "snowed in" and "body heat" to be the same at all. "body heat" is for physical contact/cuddly/shippy stuff, "snowed in" can be that but also totally platonic non-shippy silly stuff.

tbh bakerstreet memes are, for the most part, inherently broken. they are almost always too niche, and if they're not niche, they're at least so broad an idea that somehow someone can't imagine finding what they're looking for within that meme and thus create their own, more laser targeted version.

there sadly isn't really a solution for this, since memes bombing or only getting a page of empty top levels at most never discourages any of these memes from just being posted again.

that exposes a lack of imagination on your part.

more gacha characters who aren't just from fate or genshin

ones like arknights and alchemy stars have really fun characters i'd love to see on memes

bakerstreet is pretty much broken beyond repair now, though it'll likely always exist in some sluggish lifeless capacity like TLH

dw tools is literally required to make it usable unless you want to slog through page after page of shitty musedumpers, and even then you still have other issues, like redundant memes, 9000 texting/shippy memes, people treating the comm as their personal musebox for their failed niche kinks, obnoxious fad canons dominating the space and drowning everyone else out, ghosting on planning, ghosting on starters, etc.

some of this may be fixable (i.e. if the mods decided to actually mod), but some of it is just the community, and there's no fixing that

outside of agreeing with me that niche memes failing don't discourage people from posting them, a ton of this sounds like sour grapes over people liking things you don't like, which is again not something the mods could fix. like you say "if the mods decided to actually mod" but what does that mean outside of "ban the people and memes i don't like"?

That's understandable! Honestly I just put it on auto most of the time and follow the story when I can, but it can still be a timesink and if you like alt costumes, can be a moneysink too.

I don't think that's me because I've only tagged other gachas so far but I'm glad to know other alchemy stars exist! I've been wanting to thread with other players.

Not a peeve, but mostly a question. What would an ideal Bakerstreet look like to you all?

We often talk about it in terms of taking something away (players, memes, habits), but if we were to rebuild meme culture and start from scratch, what would you want from it?

probably would say no empty top levels. I feel like if you make people write base starters play is just more likely to occur.
