sorry, but the problem with wols isn't that they want to ship with npcs. it's that a lot of them have a self-centered "what about me" attitude towards cr with npcs and can get obsessive about it. while the most infamous horror stories are about pushy wol/npc shippers, this unfortunately also comes up with gen cr, too. i'm not going to make assumptions about what you're like because there are decent wol rpers out there, but if you have trouble getting cr with npcs despite being upfront and open about not wanting to ship with them, that might be why.

i also want to add that sometimes it's more off-putting when a wol insists that they don't want to ship, that they're "different". wols in dwrp try to one-up each other in being the most special and most unique, so this "not like the other girls, so play with me plz" schtick wont work with people who have been badly burned.

this. honestly i'd rather rp shippy or smutty threads with a wol player i know than gen threads with a wol player i don't. if i'm rping with the former, then i've known them long enough that i can trust them not to use me as a fun dispenser just because i'm playing the other half of their wolship. with the latter, there's still a chance they're going to be a self-absorbed asshole when it comes to our cr.

nfn but i have met wols who are married to other wols (who are also being played in dwrp) and they're still nasty assholes. a lot of them also have open relationships so they can still chase their fave npcs, so they're both nasty *and* ship-pushers. you can be the rare decent wol, but the truth is people are still dealing with the bad ones who have pulled every trick in the book to get what they want.

I have not tried to RP her anywhere but my wol is an actually bad person. someday I would love to play her against canon npcs who can't stand her but have to be nice or she won't kill gods for them

da, kinda. from the vague interferences you can make from the occasional answer option you can choose from and some job/general questlines, the wol comes off as "willing to be the hero to their own detriment." why they're willing to do so, and what their general demeanor is (other than the game making jokes about you being a silent protag), is entirely up in the air.

the wol specifically doesn't act or do too much in cutscenes for 90% of the game either outside of generic reactions (being alert when an enemy appears! looking sad when a sad thing happens!), likely to allow for the player to project their own intended personality onto the protagonist.

this feels like those old "anti-mary sue" OCs from the early 2000s where people would make characters that were awful and edgy and not like all the OTHER girls because she was TOUGH and MEAN but all the popular characters hang out with her anyway

i can only hope this is bait and that you aren't serious in thinking that people would actually want to rp with a character like this

+1 there are multiple games with customizable protagonists that will let you be morally gray and even outright evil, and npcs will react accordingly. but instead, anon wants to play an evil character from the linear game where all the npcs regularly tell you how great you are, and have the same relationship with you no matter what. if it's not bait then it's a huge red flag.

you seem to misunderstand the issue with wol rpers. it's not that they want npcs to be their character's friend or lover. it's not that they're goodie two shoes, or girls who are sweet but feisty, or carboy uses, as much as wg dunks on them. it's that wol players get so caught up on what they think is fun to play that they don't stop to think about whether it's fun for their rp character, and your wol is the perfect example of that attitude.

sure, it would be a lot of fun to write someone who isn't an all loving jrpg hero. but would your castmates enjoy it? because unless she only recently revealed what a terrible person she is npc players are going to wonder why the hell they got in so deep with her (and i mean a genuinely bad person who does bad things and harms innocent people, not some surly asshole who's mean but still does the right thing). alisaie players are going to wonder why she never punched her out until this thread. other scion players are going to wonder why she was even hired when there are other people with the echo. estinien and ysayle players are going to wonder why they didn't push her off a cliff while alphinaud wasn't looking and try to handle the plot themselves. people who play characters who were active in stormblood will wonder how this monster was able to unite people to rise up against the empire, while others will wonder why they just don't replace her with fordola. etc etc. sure, you can say your wol is still necessary because she's the best of the best, but that just leads to cr where npc players can do nothing but wring their hands and gnash their teeth over and over and over again. how is that fun to play out?

tl;dr you've created a character that requires your cr to be willing to twist canon and sit around doing nothing for it to work. if you really want to play a wol who's a bad person, find some way to give other players something to work with. make her a sleazebag who keeps her worst tendencies hidden away from friends and allies. make someone who's nice to most of the cast, but has no problem killing kobolds and baby dragons because she doesn't think they're real people. have someone who's self-righteous or hypocritical or a little too bloodthirsty, and one step away from having that twisted into a corruption arc. just give your castmates something to do.

i say i don't want to ship because wolnpc ships are boring as fuck and i'm really not interested in the stupid head over heels hero worship the game forces on the main character

y'shtola has a giant furry boyfriend to go kiss and emet's a dumbass, stop saying they're in love with me, i don't care, npcs have other npcs to fuck, if i'm gonna ship with anyone it'll be the hippokampos
