AYRT

I think the context of "this wasn't an unreasonable or mean request, and I worded it politely" does matter given all of that everything that Bee said first, if only to establish that she was acting like that over a reasonable request.

Re: AYRT

eh i don't agree so ymmv

da

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
agreed

i think people are mixing two different issues here

i think the homestucks were obnoxious on rpa, but the actual log issue was handled well (like someone on rpa said, this happened some days ago)

but on the thread, the main issue that was being discussed was how the whole blocking+tagging was handled, and i think bee was the ass there, so the pm was good context for THAT.

if dave's only comment had been the pm nobody would've batted an eye but because they said all those things logged in now attention is off bee

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
it might be people mixing three issues, because my takeaway from it was somebody defending themself against anon gossip that went too far. like i really don't care about how some dramatic weirdo handles the block stuff and they're all allowed to block each other, whatever. but lying about someone's dramatic vent to frame them as somebody trying for real violence is pretty bad.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
you are absolutely right, the thread derailed so much that the original anon that said that stuff was completely forgotten

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
that may be why some people are having such a bad reaction to the homestuck person, too. they made comments about getting their fingers cut off which smacks of having been the original anon.

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
that makes no sense because the entire thing started when bee removed them, so they couldn't have seen and missread such plurk. and they're asking for proof to be sent to the mods. i do think megan should't have believed the anon so easily, but i don't believe that anon was them.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
IMO posting about cutting off fingers over rp is unhinged antisocial behavior that should be called out.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
if that had happened you'd be right

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Where are the pastebins to prove it did or did not happen?

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
i cannot provide them, i'm just reading what's available. if someone has proof that her logged in comment was a lie and she really did say some bad shit, and it's not just same old dwrp grown women blowing it out of proportion because they don't like her (which is fine she seems annoying) then i'll change my take

until then sorry it seems like anons doing the most like they always do

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
she's trying to play it off as OH YOU'RE JUST OVERREACTING THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT but that's still really creepy to joke about

and given her reputation and the context of the original comment, she's obviously doing everything she can to bid for sympathy and warp everything in the situation to make it seem like she's 100% the victim as opposed to someone who played some role in how this turned out

i too am glad that years of shitty behind-the-scenes behavior finally bit her in the ass and her whiteknight friends can't rescue her this time

da

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
if she said that, then it's on the people saying she did to bring the proof of it

dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
true, but the rest of ayrt's point still stands

bee didn't only clarify the finger thing, she tldred and played victim about the whole situation while clearly being part of problem. so while i don't disagree that the finger thing needs proof, it cannot blame people for seeing the context and thinking that someone misspresenting nine points is also misspresenting the tenth

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
i can see that yeah. i can also see people assuming anons were bitch eating crackers about it

ayrt

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
absolutely, but the point is that bee still had all the rest of comment to look like a ass even if the finger thing was a lie. concentrating on that is taking off the attention of the actual crazy

"I said the next person who showed me a basic lack of courtesy was getting their finger bitten off."

Bee's own words, imo that sounds like pretty much what anons interpreted it as. Sure it's a vent plurk but it's still a fucking weird thing to say.

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
that's not at all a weird thing to say.

it's obvious comic hyperbole, anyone with any sense knows she's not going to literally bite people's fingers off. are you a fucking child?

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Most of us outgrew that kind of edgy hyperbolic violence when we were about 23 or so. We have this conversation all the time, anon. Half of us still like that humor, and the other half wants the first half to grow the fuck up.

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
nobody is taking it literally

the problem is that until we see a pastebin, we only have bee's comment to go off

and they sound deranged on that comment, so from the little clues that we have, it sounds like they threw a fit because someone asked them not to tag them and they're blaming it on rl stress

it's what the "comic hyperbole" represents: a whiny baby ranting because they weren't told not to tag a log. that comic hyperbole is still a stupid reaction to have to such a request

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
it's

a turn of phrase

it's literally a way of saying "i'm so pissed i'm going to snap at the next person who pushes me"

it's a sign that they need to log the fuck off but it isn't weird

you can't be this dumb

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think anyone is actually worried about Bee biting actual fingers off but the point is that its an ugly response and a bad sign for anyone else who wants to assert a boundary.

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
it's not the idiom itself that is weird, what is weird is that "i'm so pissed i'm going to snap" was a reaction had to a boundary

you are the dumb one

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
imo "getting their finger bitten off" has the same effect as "getting their head bitten off" which is an idiom everyone uses all the time (you might be ESL so just explaining)

making it "finger" or "fingers" makes sense in this context because we're all typing, not speaking

it's just an idiom, not an expression of violence

blows my mind that people in a hobby about reading and writing don't understand what an idiom is or how it works

(for those anons, it doesn't literally blow my mind, my skull is still intact - just in case you need the clarification spelled out for you!)
