lol i gotchu nonny

i think instant coffee is just very unusual in the US? that's my experience, anyway

Re: relevant anon

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
... it shouldn't be. it's a cheap alternative to fresh brew. i'm in canada and most of us welfare bums and low income sorts that need caffeine go for instant.

Re: relevant anon

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
i mean im a welfare bum and still get a bulk walmart brand tub of coffee every other month with my tugboat so i don't have to drink instant coffee

Re: relevant anon

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
its always been indistinguishable to me, but also faster, cheaper and more convenient, so maybe as a beggar don’t be a chooser

Re: relevant anon

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm not sure it's actually cheaper here in the us.

puzzling place to use that idiom. welfare money isn't the receipts of "begging" and if it is please know that every single major financial institution, ag business, healthcare provider, and defense contractor is a beggar. so are most retailers, especially walmart/target, and most chain restaurants. huge government subsidies keep something like 40% of companies that could not turn a profit if they were unsubsidized moving.

after the fed printed a few trillion bucks to keep home prices high and jd morgan in business, how can you possibly, on god's green earth, refer to the person getting like $175/mo to keep them alive as a "beggar"? do you just hate the poors or have you been relentlessly programmed to think of subsidies like PPP loans as somehow justified while humans living in the country - the one that is literally printing money to keep real estate holders solvent - are merely teat-suckers and need-havers?

who do you think buys all the stuff being made and financed? who needs all the healthcare? ill give you defense contractors though. those guys are pure govt waste.

I keep some in my desk at work and my pantry at home because sometimes I don’t want good coffee I just want fast coffee.

this, sometimes i don't want to go through the effort of brewing a pot of coffee and just want some quick caffeine.

Re: relevant anon

saying "instant coffee is gross, drink a monster" is like saying "cutting yourself shaving is painful, scald your facial follicles with hydrochloric acid"

and i say that as somebody who hates instant coffee

i live in the US and i always see instant coffee in the coffee/tea aisle at every grocery store i have ever been to? maybe you're just not looking, anon, because it's not as unusual here as you seem to think it is. i've had instant coffee before and it's actually pretty decent.

there's even instant espresso that i really liked, because I can foam my own milk with a french press and have a latte at home.

It might depend on which part of the US you're from because certain areas definitely get more stock than others.

Re: relevant anon

(Anonymous) 2022-04-11 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
sure i didn't say you can't buy it

Re: relevant anon

(Anonymous) 2022-04-11 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
i'm responding to the fact that you think it's ~*~unusual~*~ to see in the US when that is objectively not true, you dunce. i've been to states on the west coast and midwest that had instant coffee. it's not hard to find.

theres instant coffee where i live but regular coffee is about the same price so i dont see the point in not getting it. isn't like im filling the world with keurig cups either i have my organic filters n shit

Re: relevant anon

(Anonymous) 2022-04-11 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
i used to get instant before i could afford a coffee maker, so it's ideal for situations like those.

now i have a coffee machine with a reusable filter, so the only mess i deal with are the used grounds that can go down the garbage disposal. it's pretty great.
