my timeline is mostly comprised of ex players who are justifiably upset that they were mistreated and lied to so it's not all bad. i'm sorry about your shitty timeline missing the point

It's not worth pastebinning it's just generic "we need to be nicer to each other/mods get treated like paid customer service" platitudes and talking points (is there a name for this sort of maneuver, where someone drops a borderline non sequitur in order to look like the reasonable side in an argument)

never understood this. modding IS customer service but volunteer. people should be polite, but mods also do have a duty to do the job they volunteered for. i honestly have more sympathy for a paid customer service worker being bad at their job than mods because a mod can choose to leave at any time if they don't want to do it anymore, there's no economical pressure forcing them to do something they hate or are shit at.

It's less sympathy or caring about the mod's feelings and more frustration at someone shitting in their pool. I can understand that, it sucks to suffer repercussions due to no action of your own. But it's naive to think it's not the mods who shat in the pool.

Reminds me of the upcycle people who stayed ride or die during the drama

to play the devil's advocate, it's precisely because dwrp chased off all the good sane mods that this is all that's left lol. quix and gonsai within a month of each other, you can't make this shit up

gonsai and his clique were cited as the main reason of burn-out by mods of two different games I know so yeah

that's obviously wrong in the case of these mods but the only thing i've seen on my plurk is someone telling mods that they ought to behave like customer service employees and take the "customer is always right" mentality when modding a game

and they're not even really saying that's a good thing, just that it's the way it is, and christ it's no wonder no one wants to mod anymore except power-tripping jerks like gsai and quix.

I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same plurk and it still rubbed me the wrong way because that's still implying that it's the playerbase's fault for complaining so much and not, having reasons to complain

the same plurk is on my tl and while I disagree that that's how mods should behave, I can see how op got there. like, they're recommending just rolling over and caving to everything because they got sent fucking suibait when they didn't

tbf if you're not in the game, new to the game/weren't very involved, don't read anon comms and only saw the ooc post, it'd be pretty easy to interpret it as a modteam being brutally dogpiled because a bunch of players are uncomfortable when not about me

There isn't much correlation between "players have been shitty and whiny to mods in the past" vs "these mods in particular suck shit"

These mods do suck shit, but how does the JGK mods being awful mean there's never been a case of players harassing mods before? Or did we just decide to accept anon mods because it seemed cool?

there's a deep irony to this because whenever i talk about entitled players treating mods like shit and expecting them to bow to their every whim, i am always specifically thinking of gsai and pals, who were in my modding experience the worst group of whiny pissbabies operating under the delusion that they were paying customers who spoke for the entire playerbase and ergo the mods had a responsibility to cater to them specifically because it was their job.

people saying 'we should be nicer to mods :c' in the middle of the jigo implosion were not saying that in good faith, only saying that because they were upset their current game was going under and wanted to pass the buck to anyone other than the mods

suggesting anything about the jigo situation was the fault of anyone other than the mods and their close friends is revisionism
