no, no, but tree law is outright unhinged and cutting or damaging someone else's tree can earn you incredibly high fines, depending on the plant's age, position, role, so on. it's taken really seriously................... as is dwrp.

wow i'd forgotten about that post. i feel like that's the downside to games with all-powerful NPCs around, there are always going to be some assholes with characters who want to try to upstage or outright kill them.

i didn't mean to say they sucked, just that they probably didn't make the best choice they could have here as some people think. yes, in hindsight, they should have called for a retcon and say "there just aren't enough resources, tough shit." players would be salty about it, but it would have been better than what ended up dragging on over the following months.

I play a lot of characters who usually see all-powerful NPCs as enemies to attack and dethrone and there are a lot of fun ways to play that out. You just can't go into it expecting or hoping to win, but anyone that joins a dwrp game and expects to "win" the plot is going to be a problem no matter what character they're playing.

The fact that the mods didn't retcon this and instead gave them consequences that opened up new avenues for more rp is great and the players who bitched and complained wasted a good opportunity because they weren't creative enough.

you literally said "everybody sucked" and then when you were asked why you phrased it as an "everybody sucks" situation, you doubled down on how you thought the mods sucked because they didn't pull new trees out of their asshole. are you too stupid to keep the conversation straight or do think we're too stupid to parent up?

man reading about hadriel wank again reminded me of the time some players wanted to plot some sex magic orgy in the middle of a public location where new characters arrive. can't remember who it was, but i think the mods had to shut that down, too. i don't envy them for the shit they had to put up with sometimes. i always felt like they were a little too lax with their app standards.

You do realize you're putting the blame on mods for player attitude, right? The mods did what they did because it made sense for the setting. Players whining nonstop for months isn't on the mods. Honestly, the way you keep saying it should have been the mods who understood that players not paying attention to the setting and choosing to try to "win" the setting and not the players accepting responsibility for the choice that boggles me.

The bracket comments from both characters in that thread make me cringe. Truly my least favorite style of RP meta.

I honestly don't mind pet GoFundMes most of the time. Pets are dumb and do things like eat ribbons, inhale pesticides, get too rough playing with other pets, or just lose the genetic lottery and vet bills are never anything less than expensive. Even if you save, shit happens, so a helping hand can be appreciated.

What I DO mind is when Fluffy is clearly on their last legs and have heart failure, kidney failure, dementia, cancer, are blind, deaf, and toothless and people STILL want anywhere between $2,000 to $10,000 to keep them going. I understand it sucks to realize your 20 year old animal is at death's doorstep but c'mon. READ THE ROOM AND GET OUT OF DENIAL. A geriatric animal that was young when Bush was still in office is not gonna bounce right back and recover even if you pour a waterfall's worth of money into their care. I've seen a startling amount of pet GoFundMes that rapidly turn from "Fluffy needs a $8,000 surgery RIGHT NOW to save their life!!!" into "Uh, so I'm shocked to report Fluffy just dropped dead.....awkward....can anyone help me pay their funeral costs???"
