dumb anecdote but have you ever seen the kid's show Max and Ruby about the two bunny siblings

I say this because the sister in that show has a lot of the same pronunciation quirks as this game and turns out it's because she's a uk actress being forced to ape an american accent

Game is a mess in other ways but that might explain the dialogue issues

so it turns out the english VAs are actually English people being told to do american accents even if they weren't comfortable with doing them. so yes, that is exactly what is up with the dialogue issues.

i dunno. yangyang's voice actress said 'central city' but really made that t sound like a d, so I thought it was cendral city. there's a few other instances where the words sound like no one's ever worded before. it sounds incredibly ai to me more than a dialect difference. it's happened a few times when the words on screen don't match phonetically with the words being said.

and kudos to the game for finally using almost colored language. 'pissed off'. never seen an open game say that in dialogue before.

show me an english voice actor saying 'central' with a d. even the most cockney accent will have a t. it'll sound like sen'trohl, but it won't be mistaken for a d. that and the complete lack of emotion in some of the voices make me feel ai. muppet.

i'm not saying it's a english accent. i'm saying their words sound weird because they're trying to force a accent they don't have. that's why their pronunciation sounds weird and not right. also 'voices sound flat and emotionless' isn't some AI gotcha since that's been around since acting was a thing.
