That’s not how it is tho. The rule is “if you’re taking a hiatus you take it, no take backsies at the end of the month.” If you need a retro just say personal emergency or some such. Lots of people were going “lol oh I forgot to tag can I stay?” which was annoying af. Be sensible and it’s fine.

ok, that makes more sense. like i said, hard to tell without more context. ex-player who's not in the game rn but was thinking of going back at some point so that's good to know. clamping down on that behavior, especially if it's repetitive, makes sense.

Yep. It’s a good thing for people who actually want in the game, because the people who were squatting month to month can’t do it so easily anymore.

yeah i'm not sure what the other anons are referring to, you can see the rule changes on the activity check page, they're marked 'starting june 2024' in bold. the only adjustments are:
- asking players to post on the AC check-in even if they're hiatused, unless they have an emergency
- saying mods can ask for other proofs of AC if you repeatedly turn in threads with the same 2-3 people every month
- AC threads must have at least 3 comments from your character to qualify
- you can use threads started in the past two months to make AC

the only change on the hiatus page, also marked 'as of june 2024' is that now they are counting someone as having used their hiatus in a month, even if they end up making AC( which i admittedly don't understand the reasoning for, but w/e)

what am i missing? where do they say it's in any way at mod discretion when a hiatus does or doesn't count?

It doesn’t. The squatters are getting mad they can’t squat.

just bizarre, because this stuff can be so easily checked. the pages are right there and public.

A lot of the anons that follow this game don’t like to read…

The no-take-backs on hiatuses is probably to stop people from doing shit like posting a hiatus comment for may and then editing it in late may to be like "oops make this for june instead" because they managed to scrape up an inbox thread or two with their castmates. Plus I imagine it's annoying for the list mods to keep track of people constantly changing their hiatuses.

On the hiatus page.

"We reserve the right to decline granting players a retroactive hiatus if they are requested repeatedly, especially for trivial issues. Retroactive hiatuses should be used in cases of emergency."

subthread op acting like this applies to all hiatuses is hilarious. tells you what kind of player they are.

+1 I chortled, some people really don’t understand anything unless it’s expressly spelled out in simple baby words for them
