my rp partner plays some of the same characters i do and it's great because we switch off playing the halves of our otps.

idk, but based on the sheer number of times this issue and similar ones have come up i don't think it's all that uncommon.

i don't really let it get to me nowadays, but i have been bummed out in the past when friends and other gamemates got way more tags and attention than me. and i know from talking to other friends that they've felt similarly when they had dry spells in the past.

I was an anon who was a bit flippant at you on your last comment, but tbh I don't feel jealousy either (or haven't in any ongoing contexts, just to leave the door cracked a bit) and you aren't actually completely alone in this. I guess whatever the RP equivalent of compersion is applies here, it's just really nice to see my RP partners having a great time in all their ships even if they don't involve me. I won't go on about my relationship too much since it's more offtopic, but I've never felt jealousy in any partnership I've been in either. I'm still monogamous for other (mundane) reasons.

But people would sass you less if you didn't do the whole "feels like a huge energy drain, sounds like copium" thing, because whether you intend it that way or not, it comes across as posturing. If you used to be capable of jealousy then you already know it sucks, and being airy and superior about something out of people's control isn't going to net you any good response.

jealousy is a normal human emotion, but i also think it's relevant to point out that this community has a lot of people who struggle with mental health issues. if you're already depressed, feeling like you're not having much luck with rp compared to others can feed into that.
