this one i'll give people a pass on because i live in a place that normally gets hot and humid in the summer but i've never seen it this bad for this long in the 15+ years i've lived here. i don't even want to see what my energy bill is going to be for this month and i haven't even been trying to keep my place overly cool, i have my thermostat set at 76. anyone who doesn't have central ac is definitely going to be suffering here right now.

people who actually work outside are in serious danger in the temps we've been seeing where i live. my doctor ordered me not to exercise outdoors, even in the evenings or early mornings, because the risk of heatstroke is so high even during normally safe times of day.

acting like complaints about the heat are a sign of being privileged shut-ins just indicates that anon is the shut-in to be so unaware of the difference between normal summer and this shit.

I live in a place where we have had awful droughts in recent years and it gets over 100F sometimes, but it's been 106+ for over a week and a half and doesn't cool off very much at night, so there is no relief and this isn't normal.

yeah, the fact that it isn't even cooling off at night is the biggest problem. when i first moved here i lived in a place that didn't have ac and it was fine because even though it could get warm during the day, i could run a fan and then i would open all the windows at night and let it cool down that way.

right now i couldn't even do that because it's been over 80F every day at night too.

which is ironic because by complaining about it on wg of all places, it brings the exact same discussions they're complaining about here as well.

that and places that aren't used to this kind of heat have people dying in heat domes because of lack of being prepared. there's a lot of people at risk because of places that aren't built for extreme heat and don't have air conditioning or any kind of way to cool down. so seniors/medically unwell people are being put at risk. or people with shitty homes that aren't allowed to have ac because of shittier landlords. i'm up in canada and we're not used to these kinds of heatwaves and lately every summer we're getting a lot of 'in hindsight preventable deaths' because people aren't prepared for how hot it gets. heatstroke can really fuck you up. not drinking enough water. we have a huge homeless problem along with drug addicts in the streets and it's resulting in a lot of medical emergencies.

it's hot. people are going to complain that it's hot. it's like complaining that people are talking about elections too much or something relevant in the news because that particular person doesn't care. learn to scroll.

we're all suffering right now, and it's nice to know that people are sympathetic.
