Deets are going to be hard to come by because of Jade's MO. She's a mean girl and a bully, and covers her tracks well. She will test the waters by trying to be fake casual and then go all in if she sees an opening. In the past she has iced out players who she doesn't like, and shit-talked the original mod of expiation to everyone around. However, since she does this one-on-one anyone who drops caps is at risk of her unhinged behavior.

the way things went down with the original head mod never sat right with me

i hope they're doing ok

what happened? again... i hope their grudge gossiping didn't cause any serious issues for the previous mod and if they did then i hope no one write with those two ever again.

publicly? there was some sort of disagreement on expiation's pacing and overall direction. the game was fairly slow-paced at the time, but note that it was also always billed as a game with bimonthly events

after one event, jade and a few other players got frustrated and left feedback that there was too little for the characters to do and that they didn't feel that the event reflected the premise of the game. (for context, expiation's premise was that characters were accused of a crime and sent to expiation to await their sentencing. the first event involved dealing with a food shortage in the town, with characters dividing up into different groups to try to solve the issue their own way. there were people who stole food from the neighboring town, some who tried to hunt for their own food, etc.)

the head mod responded that they wanted more time to build up to the themes of the game and that the initial months were meant to help the characters get settled, asking for more patience, but added that they would consider changing the event format to better accommodate the playerbase. a sotg went up subsequently, then another event that was a bit meatier, so it seemed like everything was fine.

then the mod put up an announcement for people to be kind to each other and emphasized that no harassment or bullying would be tolerated, stepping down and leaving the game entirely shortly after. i am not privy to what exactly transpired, and i think only the parties involved would be, but the whole thing seemed very off given how much effort the mod put into the game up to that point and how they were always stressing how grateful they felt to the players who gave the game a chance. the identities of the other mods who were helping the head mod were never made public as far as i'm aware, but they also did not stick around. what resulted was a complete mod changeover, with big overhauls to the game as a result

it was alarming at the time, and i recall a lot of people being worried for the head mod. talking shit about them behind their back to other players is a really shitty move on jade's part

i’ll be fair here. as someone who used to be in game and left, the former mods weren’t amiable. a lot of players had issues with how they were treated and spoken to. if you look through former rewards pages for example you can see how curt and charged some of those interactions were. i understand where you’re coming from but there’s more nuance here than you think and a lot of people were driven away by the former mods’ behavior for a reason. they were difficult and uncooperative at worst.

i'm looking at the rewards page right now and i don't see which of these replies is supposed to be an issue

lmfao same anon i went to check and it looks pretty normal........jade's cronies working overtime so she isn't drop dropped

(Anonymous) 2024-07-11 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
same here. not seeing what’s the problem.

regardless if you’re not happy with a game (which is totally okay and normal) you drop and make your own if you have so many opinions, you don’t go around talking shit unless you’re a total asshole.

This comment is one of the exact things Jade used to say to get everyone riled up against the original mods, complaining about the game being slow, disorganized, and badly managed. None of which were actually true.

jade or one of her bros has been on this thread so hard lmfaoooooo

all of ours too

(Anonymous) 2024-07-12 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
couldn't she have picked a better lie?

if she'd stuck to the "the mods were mean to me and my friends behind the scenes" story, that might have maybe been believable, but literally anyone can glance back at the old mod posts and see that the mods were incredibly on top of things

(Anonymous) 2024-07-12 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, i have a couple of friends who dropped due to issues with the previous mods. and these are friends i've played with in multiple games where they've never once butted heads with mods or other players so i'm 99% sure they weren't the problem.

Go touch some grass instead of obsessively stalking wg threads, Jade and/or Alisa.

nah, i've never even been in expi. i expressed interest in it once and those friends advised me against it because of the problems they'd run into with the old mods.

haven't heard anything but positive stuff about the new mods, though. that's why it's weird to me that everyone is trying to make excuses about why they won't go to the mods if these people are really as bad as everyone is claiming they are because from everything i've heard, these mods are actually reasonable.

I don’t get this. Mods aren’t AI or corporate trained customer service drones. Unless the mods were really mean or something, sometimes people don’t click. It’s normal. Just because a few people didn’t vibe doesn’t mean Jade’s behavior was right.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-12 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
i was in the game when it first opened. i ended up dropping because i didn't quite find the way i interpreted the premise lined up with the gameplay, and i didn't really want to wait a few months to find out if it'd still be that way once the advertised premise came into play.

that said, the original mod(s) were - in my experience - reasonable to talk to, receptive, and friendly with the player base. not in all cases, but i've generally found "difficult and uncooperative" is a complaint thrown around when people don't get their own way in a conversation or interaction, which, like... having interacted with some of the people being spoken about here (mostly jade, my interactions with alisa have been minimal), is something i'd level at them rather than the original mods.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-12 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
+1 the original mods were some of the friendliest mods i'd seen. the accusation that they were disorganized and slow is especially baffling to me because these were mods that conducted polls on what each character did during events so that they could consider each action when writing out event aftermaths.

the only thing i can recall about them that might lead to people describing them as "uncooperative and difficult" is that they were very insistent that special powers only be available in specific circumstances. (though i guess jade specifically might also be miffed that the original communication devices didn't let her character type like a homestuck no matter how she rephrased the question to the mods)

if they were really so difficult, surely it's not difficult to pull up actual instances of them being unfriendly or unfair. the mods were the most public figures in the game, and most of their interactions with the players publicly available.

it's hard to believe any of this when the most we've gotten is a completely normal rewards page that's somehow supposed to be proof the mods hated some of the players that were granted rewards

(Anonymous) 2024-07-12 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Given that Jade and Alisa hold grudges like it’s their career, yeah, im not surprised that they or their friends would be billing the original mods as unreasonable and rude because they were told no.
