from the sounds of it in that article it wasn't their decision. probably some executive worried about offending the crowd that still thinks the harry potter books promote satanism

in reply to your actual point: yes. there are kids on twitter already frothing over the idea of it being related to "blood libel"

blood libel isn't a satanism thing it's an antisemitic trope

the kids are still stupid either way though

you know, whenever someone screeches about the 'twitter mobs,' i usually dismiss it out of hand and think that it's just some right wing nutjob being mad about being ratioed after a bad hot take or something

but then shit i read like this and think that maybe they have a point

the worst part of the modern internet is there really aren’t any age specific websites anymore, everyone is just crammed together in one space and way too often i find myself coming across tweets of someone who is obviously young when i’m not looking for them.

it feels really different from when i grew up where i would end up joining niche interest web forums with the people in my age range. i remember being part of so many ezboards that are just gone now.

lol be serious. it's because the more options you have for character alignment, the more work you have to put into the game. having a spicy blood magic option means thousands of hours of extra coding to have unique dialogue, animations, story alternatives, ect ect and that's just a waste of money for this famously unethical company. they're trying to get ahead of comparisons to baldur gate 3 with it's fleshed out alignment paths. "our hero wouldn't do that" sounds better than "we didn't want to pay devs."

the problem is that goes against the ethos of every BioWare game going back all the way to KOTOR and Jade Empire

like okay fine 'our game our story' whatever

but then they have to admit that they're turning their back on the idea of having player choice that made them famous in the first place

who exactly is left to do any back turning? did you miss when bioware was bought out by EA, or when the original developers left and their main IPs went dormant? did you think the downhill slide stopped and they went back up? are you a time traveler from 2008?
