i think it's less nerfing and more 'you put out this character with these mechanics and they've been out for long enough that we've built around that mechanic and now you're taking it away because you're saying it's a glitch'. i personally think they can edit it if they want, but it's not like i can't devils argument the other side.

something like that. believe the argument made by the cn players who reported them to the ccp is that it's consumer fraud, because the character was left in this state for nearly a year and 2 reruns and people paid money to whale for him with the assumption he could be played this way

huh, neat. interesting that the ccp gives a fuck, but under those circumstances i can see that being a valid consumer fraud claim, especially given the kind of money people drop on these fucking games.

for gacha games it can be, since the characters and their gameplay are the product being sold to customers, rather than the game itself

it's only illegal when it's something that's specifically billed as being part of the character. for example, if you release a character whose kit is based around being able to do x amount of damage under these conditions and then you nerf the amount of damage they can do, that's illegal because people pulled for the character under the assumption that they would be able to do x amount of damage and now that is no longer the case.

in this case it's not illegal because people found and exploited a bug. this was never advertised as being something the character could do.

other anons have covered it but yeah, the chinese government is very strict about certain things. a bunch of celebrities and rich people mysteriously "disappeared" a few years ago in that they had all been previously very high profile and suddenly no one had seen or heard from them for months. turns out most of them were arrested for tax evasion. one of them was fan bingbing, although she says she was never arrested and just had to pay a fine, but she didn't star in anything from 2018-2022 because the government had deemed her subversive. there's a lot of musicians and actors/actresses that the chinese government have essentially erased all traces of their work if they'd been caught doing anything illegal.
