a friend of mine is angry because apparently some of the choices made with names and certain lingo aren't just poor or lacking in representation, they're outright offensive or used in a manner it shouldn't be applied

i'm curious, do you have an example? my bff is mexican and a huge genshin fan and i haven't heard her mention anything like that.

They are all named after deities of real world cultures for starters

do you know how many jesuses there are? or athenas? a few apollos. calypso? people name their actual children after deities. a game doing the same shouldn't piss people off this much.

it's along the lines of movies being made following loosely along mythology. percy jackson. american gods. games like god of war. i can't tell you how many urban fiction fantasy books i read that incorporate deities of all cultures. this game isn't even the first. it feels weird that someone's getting this mad over a singular gacha game doing it when other gacha games do as well.
