i think people vastly underestimate the reach of english media and news; i doubt most people in the US are aware of these accusations against VAs and celebrities in other countries. of course they're going to know about the big celebrities but that's about it. it also sounds like niosi got in due to connections/friends. tbh the only reason i know about niosi isn't because of his accusations but him being the dumbass that broke NDA for being the first VA of male Byleth and Nintendo immediately recasting the role.

for the record, they canned one of the chinese genshin VAs when it came out that he had been cheating on his wife for their entire marriage with fans. that only really came out when he was seen on a celebrity dating show after his divorce and got shot down hard when he tried to hook up with a female celebrity on live tv.

ftr i'm not saying that this is fine it's okay they hired the American sex pest but that it's kind of egocentric to expect another country to know because everyone in the certain circles online knows about it. i'm aware that mihoyo is a company and so the argument is that they should do thorough background checks, but the thing is that no one has taken niosi to court or formally accused him of anything. there is nothing that would pop up that would let them know.

That's where you're wrong; an english VA for Mr Love: Queen's Choice got fired for tweeting that Taiwan is a country. And then the rest of small cast was fired for good measure. Chinese companies do pay attention to what the international side of things get up to.

are you deliberately being obtuse or do you seriously think that a worker under company contract tweeting about a decades long territorial dispute that goes against mainland china’s viewpoint is exactly the same thing as a tumblr callout post?

are you deliberately being obtuse or do you seriously think that a worker under company contract tweeting about a VA his company just hired being a rapist is not the sort of thing a conpany pays attention to?

it's in the comment you responded to, as a reminder: https://old.reddit.com/r/HonkaiStarRail/comments/1e7kanj/english_va_for_sunday_responds_to_chris_niosi/

by your logic, they should have fired sunday's VA and not niosi for social media posting, you absolute peanut. secondly, the post came after he was hired so unless they had a time machine, there is no indication that they should've known. lastly, you're confirming what i was hypothesizing earlier: that niosi got the job due to friends/connections, you fucking muppet.

I don't think anybody expects another country to know

But the contracted studio that hired him, which is based in the us and run by english speakers who are very much embedded in the en voiceover industry? yeah, that's a little more embarrassing

I will say that the last 2 times it got loud enough for something like this to reach CN headquarters, Elliot Gindi got shitcanned and Formosa got their ass kicked for not paying vas in a timely manner.
