I’m so burnt out and tired from playing the perfect dom when I prefer to write switches. It’s probably my fault for being so excited about threads where he’s domming the fuck out of someone, but now it feels impossible to write anything else when it’s clear that’s all that the other person is interested in. It makes it harder to appreciate all other threads and interactions because my overinvested ass just feels like I’m scrambling to maintain the expectation and fun dispensing when I just want a thread where my character isn’t the mega dom.

I’ll get over it.

They probably just find it funny because it's a pretty ubiquitous complaint/it's also kind of a meme that everyone only wants to play bottoms/subs.

everyone asks "where are the doms?", but no one asks "how are the doms?"

Don’t bother bringing it up with your partners. Any time I’ve asked someone to play their character as the switch they claim them to be, I’ll get like 5 comments of set up before they silently drop the thread. This is especially obvious when they hit me up several weeks later looking to get their blorbo railed again by daddydom and magically their speed/availability ramps back up to daily tags.

I don’t think half y’all motherfuckers know what switch means, and at this point I’m tired of playing the guessing game.

This is pretty much what I expect and why I decided whinging on wg would be more productive than trying to bring it up. I still enjoy writing with them and I think they play their characters well, and I know I'm the one with the issue so I'm just dealing with it until I get the energy back. I genuinely love writing dominant characters and exploring their headspaces, but it just gets samey and disheartening when the only suggestions the other person makes are all the options that don't involve different dynamics. I also recognize it's my responsibility to voice that and I'm making assumptions about the other party's potential response, perhaps unfairly, but I'm at a point where I prefer to avoid conflict across the board because it's not worth the emotional investment otherwise. We're just mashing barbies on the internet, I can go touch grass if I'm having that many feelings over what barbie takes it up the ass.

I know it's not that deep, but it still gets exhausting.

Wiser to just whine about it here. There's really no productive way to have a conversation about this subject - they're either into the dynamic or not, and bringing up the potential for a swap will result in an unenthusiastic and quickly dropped thread. Expressing dissatisfaction with the status quo won't make them suddenly eager for something they're obviously not into, so why bother? It's the false promise that bothers me the most. Just be honest that all (general) you want to play are subs/bottoms. It's not a big deal, 99% of people who are willing to dom for a switch would be willing to dom for a sub, and this way no one ends up disappointed.

It's totally fair to be burned out on the CR while still not wanting to let it go, because finding a decent sub/bottom is only slightly less impossible than finding a decent switch. Give the line a break, and if you want to be petty, start publicly fishing for a similar dynamic with other people. They'll either get the hint or they won't, but at least you might end up with a fun thread.
