okay, so do acceptance notices say: in order to be granted access to the comms, you must first comment to the taken list and make an ac top level

or do they say something along the lines of

after acceptance, you must:
> comment to the taken list
> make an ac top level
> join the comms and as soon as you're accepted, you can start posting!

because those are very different messages and only one of them means what you're purporting

you did come up with something new to laugh at, I'll give you that. but here, let me look at my acceptance, then.

It goes on to discuss events, but it takes less than a teaspoon's worth of common sense to understand that this would mean you need to comment to the taken page as your first step, before joining the communities.

and yet it's not dependent upon it. it's a step they want you to take, but you aren't given an invite access to the comm after doing both. you request permission. they likely do batch accepts because app rounds are a bitch and they've got a hundred things to do to adjust the game for it. so they accept and then hope people do what they were asked to do. they then find out some didn't, and those people are booted for lack of reading comprehension.

as a former mod, it's exactly this. i was too busy doing a ton of other things to be monitoring to see if every player is setting up their new character right. i expected them to read the initial comment accordingly and are an adult enough to do it on their own without my needing to remind them.

this is absolutely not on the lab mods and totally on the player.

it's not that deep. they gave the player the benefit of the doubt that they'll complete the rest of the steps, the player didn't, the player got swept as a result

why are you mad at the mods for giving someone a chance to play in the game the player apped into and got their app accepted fair and square? it takes a minute to make a comment on the taken list and your guy beefed it for a month. they never wondered why they weren't on the taken list? not once?

bro, chill. you're blatantly wrong and stubbornly persisting. no where in the acceptance notice that you cited does it state that it is a prerequisite to complete task A before advancing to task B. you're choosing to read it that way, which is bizarrely inflexible and makes me wonder if you also only complete your work chores sequentially over the course of your day, even when they are unrelated.

if you, for whatever your personal reasons, think that the mods should only allow someone access to game communities after they were confirmed to have commented to the taken page and made an AC post, that's a completely different issue you can take that to them as a separate complaint about the thoroughness of their vetting. but right now you're effectively criticizing the mods for not taking a precaution they never embarked on but that you would like them to.

do other mod teams not wait on comm accepts until all the steps are completed or something? every team i have ever been a part of won't accept players to communities until they complete the paperwork.

I have no mod experience relevant to this so maybe i am just misunderstanding but uh

even if lab is unique in that regard how the fuck does that justify this geyser of buttflustered rage

oh i didn't say it was justified just kind of a dumb mod decision because the best way to guarantee people do each bit of paperwork is to withhold game access in my experience. literally every game i've been in has done this and it means all the taken stuff always gets done without mods needing to chase people down.

da but I think it's more common that mods expect you to comment to the acceptance notice, then you add yourself to the comms. Form fill-ups usually come after (taken, ac top-level, rewards page, etc). I usually do all my forms after I join comms and don't even recall doing taken list first. i wouldn't be surprised if someone messed up a step as a result especially if they already got comm access.

da but i have left the taken comment for last because it requires the most work in some games (making and linking ic inbox, ooc contact, permissions etc) and been added to the communities before finishing that work. which i found weird at the time and wouldn't do myself, as a mod.

i am not and have never been in lab but they're hardly the only game doing this.

Another da but I have the opposite experience. I can't remember the last time I was in a game that didn't do the comm accepts first or right away? Especially because in some private/locked games, there might be pages you have to fill out that are locked posts themselves.

this has been my experience too. you request the comm accepts first and THEN you fill out the other stuff.

unless they're running a very tiny game, most mods won't go through the hassle of cross referencing who all has done their paperwork before accepting them into the comms. they'll just batch accept requests because it's easier and there are a million other things to do.

you remind me of people at work who need to be handheld through every fucking step because they can't bother to figure out what they need to do on their own
