i understand people arguing that hoyoverse is a broad umbrella, but the fact is that most hoyoverse players treat each other as extended castmates. how many hoyos do you see on bakerstreet/emp that exclusively play not within their specific canon, but with other hoyoverse

and it's the big popular umbrella right now. that's what it comes down to for me as a mod. i really don't think franchise caps are a big deal - i'm sure people would complain about them being unfair, but i'm trying to be fair to the other people in the game too.

say you have a game cap of 60 and a cast cap of 6. if genshin, hsr, and zzz all hit cap, that's 30% of your game consisting of characters who probably see each other as castmates. you're just ending up in a homestuck saturation again where your communities are dominated by these characters who mostly talk to each other. i'd rather put a franchise cap at 10-12 and keep that under control.

if a franchise is defined by how much people like tagging crosscanon within specific genres i have bad news for you about how well it's going to go over when you cap all las and the entirety of xianxia

except we all know youd never actually do this "as a mod," you're just going to whine impotently on wg that you wish somebody, not you, would game the rules to force everyone to app only characters you like and only tag you with them

the majority of hoyo rpers are mid at best so just be an executioner on apps and you won't have a problem
