did you also think people were being ridiculous drawing comparisons between the goblins in the shitty terf wizard game and anti-semitic caricatures? because sometimes people do let really unfortunate racial and ethnic stereotypes bleed into fantasy creatures, that doesn't make them any less cringe and tasteless.

that said, art is subjective and you're allowed to hate this person's icons (in which only ONE has the "pink lips" you seem to hate so much), but all this virtue signaling under the assumption that the artist/player is an antisemitic racist and trying to get them straight up banned from RP is even weirder behavior to me than the OC themselves. like this thread feels straight out of some twitter purity discourse.

i don't even see a little bit what you see in that art. the dark elves in that concept art all lack the signature sloped forehead and giant hooked nose that are the giant, glaring problem with that art and make it feel like an antisemitic caricature, and the fact that you don't see the different between that and the, idk, fucked up hugo weaving aesthetic of morrowwind's dark elves deeply confuses me.

especially because typically antisemitic facial features + blood drinking/blood libel + a swindler whose out to take people's money is adding up into a gross pile of tropes. if he was just a dark skinned vampire who looked like a slightly more racist version of jafar, i'd understand where you are coming from, but there are several things piling up here at once and it makes for a gross-feeling whole.

+0.5 to this. the art is really unfortunate but i don't believe it's on purpose. it feels like this person just has a style that translates badly either hasn't been warned about what it looks like or doesn't care (which is a red flag).

the art does look like an antisemitic/racist caricature which is not great.

that said the blood libel accusation and the "slutty black man" takes are a reach. it's a vampire character and that's okay to have. if someone wanted to make a jewish vampire character that would be pretty cool actually. we can't assume everything is part of some horrific propaganda reference. the "slutty" part is just a character who is horny or whatever, sorry that poc characters can also be slutty in dwrp?

i do think someone should give them this feedback but only because i would love to see what they say about their art style. i'll be surprised if it's the first time though.

i can absolutely appreciate where you're coming from. i don't think there's inherently wrong with slutty poc characters at all, let your freak flag fly and etc. i also don't think there's anything inherently wrong with jewish vampires, that sounds like it could be really fun.

it is just the confluence of all the traits in this... seemingly flat-as-written character all seem to tie into stereotypes. he's a single minded slut who's also a swindler and a con man and also steels blood, and he happens to look like a wwii-era propaganda poster wearing blackface. like, you have to at least change ONE of those traits when you are designing an oc.

i know the one i'd recommend most stridently that you change, mind you, and it's the aesthetic first and foremost, but whether intentional or not - and i agree that it could be entirely unintentional - when the first thing anyone is going to see is your overexaggerated hook nosed art, you have to make sure you are very mindful of whatever else you put in that stew.

this is the most sane and reasonable take, i think. the style the icons are drawn in is bad, but the character itself doesn't have to be racist caricature. he's a greedy vampire slut of questionable morals, of which dwrp has a gazillion white and white-passing examples.

like hell, just finding a black LA pb would solve this problem? at least aesthetically, probably no helping the mun

if they had a decent pb with a hot black guy they would be swimming in tags. i've seen far more cringe and badly written ocs getting tons of attention just because they happen to have a hot pb.

i have no objection to players using rp abbreviations ooc. i do it a lot myself.

but for the love of baby jesus do not have your character use terms like dubcon, memloss or memshare ic unless you can back it up. you get a pass if it's deadpool or maybe emberlynn pinkie. otherwise please stop. think about how your specific character would describe what happened.

related bonus peeve: canon updaters, i never want to see the phrase "i woke up with new memories" again. it sounds so weird and false and there are so many more creative ways to handle it. even "it was like years passed overnight. i remember everything," would do. but where are the people who aren't sure if they dreamed it or not? or the ones so sure of their memories that they say they lived through that time and must have time traveled back? or if you're into that sort of horror, a character who notices the weirdness and fears the memories were falsely implanted?

you just want an easy update and not to make more of it? fine. but find a better phrase.

this is my biggest pet peeve in jamjar games. if someone does it often i start avoiding them and will not ask for cr because it's a red flag that their character will also be badly written, and probably will be the kind of character who actively ignores the setting to have parties. it shows a lack of creativity that i find really difficult to rp around.

i'd also add to this characters who make note of events and app rounds happening at the same time every month (even if they're not icly supposed to in the game) and decide to warn other characters to expect it. especially if they don't ask or warn anyone before they do it. it's a sneaky form of fourth walling and shitty because it usually ignores stated preferences. i wish more mod teams would warn players against doing this.

if no one else is going to give you credit for being the funniest clown in this clown car, anon, then i will gladly shoulder that burden.
