no one is saying the player is an antisemitic racist. no one is really worried about whether this is their core nature or an ideological statement or whatever. it doesn't matter. they made something bad that invokes a shit-ton of tropes and stereotypes that have been used to justify harming and killing people for centuries. that is bad. it does not indicate or invoke any kind of ~inherent trait~ on the part of the player to say, wow, this is a sack of negative stereotypes they're putting out there.

and no one is trying to get them ~banned from RP forever.~ theyre calling the attention of the mods in one community to an example of the one specific character that is a problem. if this player rolled in later with a character that is not a stack of negative stereotypes, no one would say boo.

the thing is, most of "the west" is built on the backs of colonialism and racial oppression (and a lot of other sins, but that's a whole different ball game.) if you grow up in those environments, you are going to unwittingly absorb some racist thought patterns, and it takes some time and effort to dig your way out. it just happens, and it's not a personal failing.

the personal failing comes when you become a big flailing tittybaby if someone says "Hey that thing you said/did was a little bit racist" and instead of listening or trying to process that, you start doubling down. that's how you become jk rowling.

for the record, it would be up to the person offended to point out, as the offended party, that it's offensive. i'm not going to listen to sjw white saviors screaming about cultural appropriation or racism. i would listen to a native american saying they'd prefer if you buy a dreamcatcher or anything else that's based on native american art style, that you buy from an actual native american artist. i would also listen to a jewish person bringing up that 'jewed' is a racial slur and to please not use it, since a lot of people seem to be ignorant of the origin of a lot of popular vernacular. about a decade ago, i took jewed and gypped out of my vocabulary when i found out that they were slurs. i've walked away from arguments with people nowadays who say that it doesn't mean that and no one's offended.

but if i said something/did something that actually offended someone, i would want to know, because i can't change/alter my behavior if no one tells me. i would want to know if i'm playing what's essentially a tarbaby character. no one seems to have told this person and are just going with, 'well, they should have known'. how? not everyone is into politics or racial/cultural matters. especially if they aren't black/jewish and don't have anyone in their social circle.
