the grudge is over the mod not doing things fast enough because of covid and holidays so idk what you have to be wary about other than you might catch terminal brainrotitis from believing anon tantrums

covid, holidays, and A FAMILY DEATH, so yeah i'm pretty sure not updating a game for a month is low on the list of anon mod sins

Yeah. But they could have dropped a line that they were okay and delayed at the very least. No one would fault them given the circumstances.

I hope they finally get some mod help. A decent move would have been nixing this app round to focus on them and finding another mod and rebooting up in Feb.

yeah, they could have, but illness and grief tend to sometimes be stronger than the desire to deal with an unnecessary hobby. covid and the loss of a loved one can each individually make small tasks seem insurmountable. sometimes i, a person with depression but not covid or a recently-deceased family member, find it too intimidating and difficult to reply to messages/give updates on occasion. that's just how brains work under stress. let's cut them some slack, it's not like this happens every month.

they are consistently late with things. it's deleted now, but there was a whole list of things they failed to do as a mod even prior to the covid situation.

all my sympathy to them, but it's the immediate jump to defend them when they only just made the announcement yesterday that makes me wary of voicing any criticism of them. the anons there were quick to say that people have no sympathy when they only made the announcement about their family circumstance yesterday after people started questioning if their game was dead.

I think it's more that the time and place to criticize them isn't right after they announced a family death due to covid

looking at the game plurk, they literally posted helper mod applications last month. so, they are looking for helper mods. how can someone not in the game notice these things but those of you inside of it don't?

It still comes down to how they didn’t communicate and they were already warned prior to the game even opening that they should consider getting some helper mods? Being late with things isn’t anything new and has been happening since the start of the game, so it’s been clear that they can’t handle being a solo mod.

This also doesn’t change the fact that some of the criticisms about them were posted prior to their announcement and anons acted as if anyone could have known that when they didn’t say anything before the thread was made.

idk i just don't think it's as big of a deal as all of you airing this out and outing them on anoncomms do i guess. sometimes mods are late or don't feel like doing something they don't get paid for or have personal issues. it's volunteer work and they're a new mod

No, players have been offering help consistently for months. This was an issue before the mod had very understandable IRL circumstances arise. I wish them and their family the best, but I think people assumed abandonment because of previous shakiness.

While this is a hobby and unpaid, as a mod you have the responsibility of communicating with your playerbase. One plurk is an easy bare minimum, if only to let people know you’re okay - it’s a crazy world and since they’re anon there’s no way to know otherwise.

Someone pointed out that if any other game had done this the mods would have been dragged well before anyone even mentioned this one. People have been very understanding of them as a new mod. It’s not a lot to ask for them to communicate.

i have yet to see someone being outed all over rpanons for late posts as a mod either so yeah i think you're all overreacting regardless

Okay, genuine question: Did you reach out to the mod in private to ask these things beforehand or did you just go straight to anon comms so you can go on about how irresponsible the mod is for being affected by real life and not being on top of things during a time they had struggles?

I don't know the mod, and I understand the frustration of delay and lack of communication, but I feel this was something that could have been asked in private in case things happened. Doubling down on how wrong someone is for something that is essentially not a big deal (delayed tdm) instead of just reminding them about it won't encourage anyone to want to mod even more.

look, you keep trying to take the logic-driven troubleshooting approach at a time when the only humane response should be compassion.

idk the game or mod, for all i know you are right and this is the thousandth and first time they are late on mod tasks and failing to communicate. the thing is, now isn't the time to make a big deal out of this, which you are. read the room: they have had to cope with covid and a bereavement. they could be satan and you still shouldn't be dragging them through the mud right now. and before you say there was no way to know about their rl circumstances - you know now, and you are still doubling down.

just stop. exercise some self awareness. realize that whatever feedback you want to bring to them or anon comms about their modding can wait until january. you're being the equivalent of "but did you send the tag??????" right now.
