alright i've noticed multiple games ban this character called 'warrior of light' and i'm completely canon blind. was there some spectacular wank i missed that got them banned from everywhere or is it something else?

the warrior of light is the main player character of the final fantasy 14 franchise. i was not directly involved in any drama as it was happening but i believe there were bad actors in dwrp for a bit and they did a few shitty things that led to taint the well

1. they want their wol to have every single class and skill possible. there are a shitton of classes that you can main as in the game, and some people want to play their character as every kind of mage, every kind of dps, etc. so they're essentially perfect. there was one that tried to get around a 'this is not a pet' rule with basically their pet, because they're a super special snowflake.

2. the character ic is essentially worshipped by the game and they win everything, so the players in question would get very 'my character can beat everyone else's!!!!' about it in games and be annoyed if they didn't immediately get the same attention that the character was used to in their canon

3. they had very specific opinions on npc romances. unlike some rpgs when you can canonly romance a npc, that is not possible in ff14. so any romances between the characters are fabricated which is fine, we all have headcanon, but they were being very aggressive toward npc players who did not want to ship with the wol. they would get harassed over it and some people stopped playing the characters altogether to avoid them.

4. there were just too many of them at a bit so it all got overflowed. i think it was prisma where there were infinite wols and it got toxic.

5. they don't canonly have any history or backstory, we only know what has happened to them in game because they make it as bland as possible so people can play any race or gender or type of character in that role. any history you'd make would have to be fully head canon because it does not exist in the game, and also they have minimal personality. for a long time they had zero lines and only recently do they let you pick a few options as replies, but they don't matter ultimately, it doesn't make a personality.

the warrior of light is, outside of the game's context, a fandom oc, and those haven't been allowed in most dwrp games since the lj days

i think that is referring to the "trying to get around rules/restrictions to do with pets" thing mentioned above, since i know the animal in question was some super special magic beast.
(i want to say it was one of those mounts with a special origin story you sometimes get in MMOs? i cannot remember if it was a dog or canine or whatever though so maybe there was some whole other wank i missed too.)
