yet somehow, despite having less clear cut personality, they're still so much more interesting, engaging, and fun to read about than ANYONE from homestuck
depends what you mean? I reread both PS and as much as I could stand of Homestuck recently.
Once the trolls come into Homestuck, it becomes a mess of bad characterization and sloppy storytelling. The character development is spread unevenly over characters who aren't really that interesting anyway, and the plot tries to be both zany and serious/involved, so you end up with a mess.
In Problem Sleuth, though... Well, yeah, it's really weird, but Hussie still manages to keep things more controlled. Also, I like the more "subtle" elements of characterization - the only one I really don't like is Ace Dick, and even he's kind of fun. But Pickle Inspector is just plain adorable and Problem Sleuth himself is a fun hero. And if you don't love Death, I want nothing to do with you.
If you want both comedy and effective action/drama, go read Order of the Stick.
man you just must have the worst taste :/ oots is wonderful
(yeah, yeah, it's subjective, but this is a hate comm, and if i think your tastes are wrong i'm gonna say as much. and if you like homestuck but NOT oots you're extra wrong)
Pretty sure the main Problem Sleuth characters have more personality than the Felt. Or the Guardians. Or the Alpha kids, Calliope, and Caliborn back when they first appeared and people started deciding to try apping them into games anyway.
And tbh, the PS cast, the Felt, and the Guardians are totally appable in games that allow large amounts of headcanon and accept characters that are basically canon OCs. Which can be fun occasionally.
I think the real reason that people don't app them is simply because they're not aliens/teenagers with colorful text. People don't really app the Felt or Carapaces all that much, either, even though you do see people playing guardians and ancestors in a decent number of games.

of course, if you have enough taste not to like homestuck and still don't like order of the stick, i'm pretty sure you have a problem.
