please, lizzie/frodo's admitted she read the lotr books after the movies, hasn't read the appendices or extra material, and uses the wiki and movies to canon review. she frequently reassures people who say that they don't know lotr well enough to app into her cast that they don't need to and that she gets by faking it jut fine.
Not knowing the expanded material is one thing but I hardly see how this is heinous, considering the movies started coming out in 2001 and a lot of us were... what. 10? 13?
I was in seventh grade when the first one came out. I read the books when I could but trudging through them was a pain until much much later. I don't even rp from this series but this elitism is just stupid everywhere.
as someone who never touched the books or movies until last year, and even then the movies first because they were more accessible (and easier to get through), yeah. it's a pretty stupidly minor thing to focus on.
