I should never have to employ accessibility features on their computer just to rp if I wouldn't otherwise have to do so.
I don't have vision issues myself, but I swear, if I find myself having to resort to copying shit and pasting it into a word processing program, just to strip out the goddamn "pretty" formatting? I will fucking shove each and every one of those font faces and color-changes and size-changes and whatever else you decided to "pretty" your text with down your idiotic throat or something.
It does NOT make anything easier!
It also doesn't make anything easier, when you employ all of the above in your original posts, and thus make it a headache and a half to read on the main community, due to layout formatting. I don't give a damn that you want to use gray text to denote the second character's speech, to make it stand out from the first character's. You're doing this on a mid-brown background where it does not fucking stand out so just STOP for the love of god. Write it in goddamn fucking PROSE. Prose exists FOR A REASON, goddamn.
If I just avoided playing with people that did this, I'd be avoiding most of the players in most of the games, it seems like.
Fucking smalltext in brackets. Don't do it. Just don't.
How the fuck is the small tag counted as "pretty formatting"?? Are you actually talking about sparkly tiny font or standard action tags? If it's the latter then what are you doing playing outside of prose-only games?
No, I'm talking about when people color the text different colors in bracket format, because they're posting for multiple characters in one post or tag. Because apparently doing something like
Character 1: [does stuff] Insert eloquent speech here.
Character 2: Reply to Character 1! [more actions]
just isn't straightforward enough. One character's speech is in navy blue, another's is red, and a third one's is purple, or green, or who knows what other color they associate with the character.
Yes, people actually do that crap. Constantly. Mostly in the main post, if they're posting for more than one character, but they still do it and it drives me nuts, especially when the comm/journal's formatting makes that shit unreadable.
Yeah yeah forgot to say, smalltext in brackets is what I meant too. "Standard" smalltext in goddamn brackets. I don't need a screen reader the rest of the time, don't think I have one installed because I've never had a reason to use one, and am sure as hell not going to install it just for RP. Listening to those fake voices is like nails on a chalkboard. Listening to them for hours would piss me off worse than dealing with stupid formatting.
Besides, if the roomie overheard porn tags? Shiiiiiiit. :( PASS! I'm not putting on headphones to RP, TYVM.
if they're having trouble reading small text then their eyesight has to be at least somewhat bad. my eyesight is hardly perfect and i can still read it with no issues.
Or, like me, they changed their browser's default text size to something smaller than 15-16px because 15-16px was just too damn huge?
Tropospherical is DW's default layout, and its comments' text is already displaying at only 75% of whatever your browser's default text-size is. Putting text in <small> tags reduces it further. At browser-default 16px, the smalltext in comments ends up being a mere 10px.
Imagine what it ends up being when my default text size is 13px! No, it doesn't render very clearly. Yes, it is difficult to read when it's more than a short sentence or two. Yes, it gives me problems. Yes, I could press control/+ and zoom in, but I don't want to always have to do that just to RP either!
