No VS Seeker has been my one complaint with every pokemon game since RSE really.
B/W is really visually great, adds a LOT of fun characters (I love that the gym leaders DO things and have very distinct personalities) and the story is really good. And the pokemon were all really cool, the environments were great etc. I really enjoy B/W2 as well for a lot of the same reasons.
I liked Platinum a lot, though. Galactic is my favorite villain team ever.
Me too on the gym leader thing. I like how each one actually goes outside of their gyms to do things and each gym reflects on their second job (museums, cafe, mine, etc). Although Hoenn is my favorite when it comes to varied environments. Sure the last fourth of it is ocean but I didn't mind it.
