tbh if it turns out to be real i'll probably get used to the design once i see the actual full art (even though it looks wonky as hell in the scans), but i am super skeptical about the scans for a variety of reasons, the chief of which are that they popped up so close to april fools' and something about them just kinda looks photoshopped (that and pixiv wasn't drenched in fanart of it five minutes after the scans came out, which is clearly the most important indicator of whether a leak is real or fake)
i mean i know people said the same thing about the leaks of the final evolutions of the bw starters but eeeh i feel like a little more skepticism is warranted here and i think it was disingenuous of the big websites to assume this much legitimacy of them and post them as if they're probably real. i mean it's fun to speculate but i'd rather save the rage/acceptance/arguments until after we know it's official or fake, you know?
while i'm a little iffy on the "are they going to overhype a million new forms in place of actual new pokemon lines like they did with new evolutions and legendaries in gen iv..." front, i'm actually pretty down with the concept and can see gamefreak doing something new with mewtwo due to all the genetic symbolism in the japanese xy logos, some things in the movie trailers, and the fact that there's spaces on the movie website that suggest one or two alternate forms for mewtwo. i just don't really buy this particular... thing. well, we'll probably see whether or not it's legit on saturday, i guess, although i'll be a bit cheesed if this is the only "new" pokemon they're revealing on smash.
