this has happened to me, or i'm on mobile and/or i have to go for whatever RL reason
usually i apologize and explain that because i hate it when people bait "gosh what happened???"
similarly i hate when people will talk to you about something they know full well you aren't knowledgeable on and wait for you to ask for clarification. i'm not talking about getting off on a tangent and not realizing you've gone off track for layperson's terms or anything, i mean repeatedly talking about a canon or subject that the other person has zero knowledge of, as if they did. and then going "oh. well then. let me show off my knowledge" dude you'd be showing off your knowledge if you explained it to me in the fucking first place
