maybe try telling them you're confused about their latest tag and ask them to explain where they're coming from, and once they do you could share your thoughts and say something like 'i actually think this would be more accurate to canon...' and go from there
if it comes across less as criticism and more as just talking about characterization and interpretations, i think they'd be more willing to listen
this is a good idea tbh. explain that you're confused and ask them to explain. if they can't or their explanation isn't up to scratch, you can offer your view on the tag.
