pretend it was a different character altogether. like, i get why someone might not want to replace their crau character with an oc, but i think it is better to pretty much pretend the important cr that shaped them was with ersatz versions and ocs
you don't have to actually come up with details about them, just like...don't make them important to your threads in the new game. if the cr you had is your only bridge to making new cr, nobody wants to deal with that, so build a better bridge. don't be like mari
of course, if your previous cr character apps in as a crau from the same game, then you can stop pretending they were someone else, and no one will care that your character didn't recognize any previous versions of them
i dislike steve/sharon but I don't think it's creeptastic either. and lol oh my god, hurtful to queer representation, ofc, because every other het pairing in the mcu is so progressive. right. that person needs a reality check.
otoh, if you're using words like whine and deluded to describe someone and then go on to use scarequotes to mock their interpretation, i don't think you like them very much lmao. why are you pretending to be their friend
the problem in that again lies with the players of some male chars being dishonest and saying that yeah, they'll totally play m/f with you, start a thread, and then drop it. or ftb. and when you again have to do this to a few chars, you wind up with the cockhop label even though you're just trying to find someone that'll actually play out m/f with you. i've had too many players promise me up and down they'll play out m/f, then either tag at a snail's pace (think one tag every week or so), or wind up dropping the thread and deciding it had been handwaved. when the week or so tags happen before it even gets to the smut, it's a pain in the ass.
i'm not trying to say people can't have preferences, but it can be really uncool to join a game for something and wind up dropping because you're just not able to play it out. i'd rather people make up their minds and just make a m/m game so all the people interested in only that can go there instead of taking up slots in a game where they're only playing m/m and f chars have limited options for actual gameplay. and yes, it does happen, because i've played versions of chars that wind up being 'bi but only into dicks' and i usually play them either m/f only or m/f that prefer women and i can't be the only one. because 'it's a sex game and i want to get my freak on' apples to more than just popular male chars. at least be honest with what you want to play and don't bullshit people.
they crau because they're still hype about their old threads and they refuse to move on and have new fun even though they're dealing with new people and a new setup.
nailed it. i don't mind the idea of craus, but in practice, ime when a group of players app in together from the same game (especially when that game has closed), they usually end up just transfering their old character dynamics and drama to the new setting. they carry on like nothing's changed and don't treat it as a fresh start in any way. some of them do make an effort to build new cr and have their characters react to the change in setting/pace/tone, but just as many stick to playing house with the same old group of players, never tag out, and quickly drop people who do try to reach out to them. a few stick to that group even when they app fresh from canon. it's just as annoying as having an insular cast. if you're only interested in playing with your buttbuddies, make a group psl and stop clogging up the game with your cliquey shit.
not entirely true. more like the garnet player was actively trying to avoid drama when gato's reaction was to defriend/block everyone in the game on her plurk before just simply idling out
basically gato didn't like the way the SU cast was doing things, like doing ridiculous plots/doing things that would directly affect her character without her input and her reaction to this was to just quietly let it happen/passive aggressively complain about it than talk to any of the players outright. this was during the reign of tora so of course going to the mods was completely useless but garnet player did her level best to help
not that it really mattered in the end anyway because of some drama she blocked anyone and everyone, including the entire game, who tried to help and ran away to futurology
so have fun with that mess futurology. just be aware that at any given moment gato saying 'sure' could be a code word for 'absolutely not but im too afraid of everyone hating me if i disagree'
oh gosh, I remember you! Even if you got jossed character-wise or don't feel as good about it, I loved reading your Luxord, and your Venom was pretty great too! You had really fun and engaging narratives. I'm really sorry your return to dwrp went down like this.
Maybe I'm just a tittybaby or something, but I wish people would stop just slapping PTSD on characters they play without actually looking into PTSD and seeing if they match at least a portion of the symptoms. I play characters that don't have it and some that do, even if they all have trauma. Or if they do slap PTSD on their character journal, at least give it more than "they have a bad dream sometimes", or whatever little thing they decide to do with it that they rarely ever do. Trauma in life =/= PTSD. PTSD is a result of trauma, but it's not guaranteed with horrible shit in life. And it really fucks people up. I've been in a lot of car accidents. I don't have PTSD from it. I know someone who does from their own. I know I'm not some PTSD EXPERT and I don't think people have to be, it just chafes my booty a little bit to throw it around like a casual description instead of an actual disorder.
