So I see a lot of people lately, here and on rpanons, saying that they find it tough to get motivation to rp when they're stuck with a bunch of backtags.
Most games let you link a permission post on your journal, and the most common permission post has a section for backtagging. Has anyone tried just putting "no thank you" or "only for X amount of time unless it's important"? I mean, that section is in a permissions post for a reason, you don't have to say 'yes'. If your game has no permissions-related stuff you could also just put it in your journal anyways or say so in your intro/CR memes/etc.
I'm a slower player myself but I wouldn't want anyone to feel obligated to tag with me if they didn't want to. I like tagging with people my tag style works for.

i see the latter a lot here. in pretty much every other venue of RP, you're not expected to tag as many as people as possible/open yourself to being tagged by everyone in unlimited quantities like you are here, unless it's a very small game where your characters are all connected. i think because we rp fandom characters instead of ocs for the most part, and people get angry if a fandom character they're fond of and want CR with gets accepted and "takes up the slot" only to find that the player has some sort of standard that excludes them.

I'm sorry but I have very little sympathy for people who beg on plurk because they're having financial problems. Getting 20 bucks from your plurk friends isn't going to solve anything longterm. I hate how much there's an attitude of entitlement and Oops I Didn't Prepare and Now I'm Broke. HELP???. Cut down your spending, live in a shitty place out of town and try to find a job instead of milking a few dollars out of people.

idk how this player manages to be in the game, to have been in the game for quite a long time with the same character, and yet to somehow be totally detached from everything. Not involved in any ic social circles, no significant cr I know of, never contributes anything of any significance to discussions or player plots. I wouldn't care, but they keep coming into plurks with these really awkward comments that are either "here is what my character thinks about this in a way that is totally unrelated to anything anyone else is thinking or doing" or "oh you have cr lucky you I never have any cr" and I'm just... okay? That's nice? That's sad? What do you want me to do about it when you never give anyone anything resembling hooks to work with?

Why are opt out posts even a thing? It could be just as easily done by PMing the player. If they have no opt out post and have PMs turned off then yeah, that's reason to complain, but as long as they have PMs enabled I don't get what the big deal is.
But I see people complaining that certain players didn't put up an opt out post for their offensive/annoying/villainous/whatever character a lot. Who cares if they don't have a post? PM them and if they don't listen, report them to the mods. Are people that anxious/confrontation-averse that they'll be too s-s-scared to tell someone they'd like to opt out unless they have a special opt out post saying they understand and are okay with it?

as someone who plays characters that warrant opt-out posts (both for problematic elements in their canon and ridiculous powers), having one is convenient for me because everyone's comments are in one place. i can see who does and does not want to play with me, people who are okay with one aspect of my character but not another, people who are fine with me going whole hog with my characters' powers and people who want to talk about it first, etc etc. if i relied on other people pming me, not only would it be easy to miss their comments in between tags and other notifs, it would be an organizational nightmare.

there's really no single "qualifier" for someone to get bitched about here, that's one of the reason why dwrp's been slowly tapering off (imo)
