when your shipping tastes are so bad you can legitimately see pearl going for mayor fucking dewey, and believe this to be a desirable outcome, there has to be something pretty offbase about how you see her
bad shipping taste can be indicative of bigger misinterpretations that'll make the character no fun to play with. maybe not always, but this is a pretty extreme case
