this always makes me flinch because back in my newness to rping, i used to put 'made by me' on any icons i made. i didn't play pedo shit and i understood what aspect ratio was, but i didn't realize that was a 'thing' until i came here.
honestly, if your icons aren't really grainy, messed up with a bizarre aspect ratio or a combination thereof, no one's gonna judge you for putting "made by me" on your icons. the guy this thread is in reference to is very distinct and very hard to miss, after all.
basically: don't let it freak you out. not everyone on this site even knows who the hell he is so they likely wouldn't think twice over it, anyway.
genuine question from a curious vidya: what shows have settings unique to la? i'm contemplating a bunch of shows and coming up with canons of other mediums that have similar settings
with a few exceptions (and some utterly shitty PC games), you're not generally going to find Procedural Dramas in video games or anime vs LA. So shows like NCIS, Law & Order, Justified, Suits, stuff like that.
maybe it's something else, then... maybe their expectations as to where things were going to go was different from how the plot is actually going? if they went into it expecting x and got y instead, that could have killed their interest. that would also explain why they're still trying to feign interest; they might feel bad for things not going the way they wanted and feel like bringing that up might make them appear entitled or whiny. it's a legitimate fear among a lot of rpers, due to all the trashtalk about entitled tittybabies, after all.
in these cases, all i can suggest is to be real with them. "hey, i've asked you if you wanted to do this, you said yes, but you haven't tagged it in [x amount of days]. please tell me what's going on so i don't have to keep my character in limbo." maybe reassure them that you won't be mad at them or something like that. if they get hella defensive, then you know you're better off not dealing with them, anyway, and can cut your losses with the plot. if they give you an actual answer, then you can encourage them to do that next time so you don't have to sit around wondering what the hell's going on. "this is what i wanted to know the first time around, don't be afraid to discuss things with me," etc etc. it might sound needlessly buttpatt-y but you might not get anywhere otherwise.
Yeah it's strange... I guess it would depend on the game? I've had trouble playing a character who's familiar with popular fictional characters before. It was hard to play her right because she couldn't really nerd out about some things since characters from those things were in the game and fourthwalling wasn't allowed. But I've never seen a game that makes it mandatory. It kind of takes away some of the identity reveal opportunities if a character is familiar with basic pop culture.
It's a nexus though which I guess would help since all the characters 'chose' to be there in that environment or its not dangerous or whatever.
she just doesn't play it with steve from what i've seen. she plays it with lots of her male charas. steve just seems to be one of the few non-m/m men she has. almost every guy she's had in a game has been bi or played bi if it's been a sex game.
Because they don't think they're the problem. Changing their calling cards would mean admitting they're putting people off, rather than laying all the blame on the meanies who won't give them a chance.
i don't see how confirming their nationalities/ethnicities hurts anything, really. they're still the same characters as they were before, plus it would put (some) end to all the offensive "nationality/ethnicity" headcanons.
there's always gonna be people who "headcanon" confirmed characters as a different nationality/ethnicity, but at least it'll take the winds out of a few sails.
