Why? Hometrail had great aesthetics, but the premise really was 'you're stuck in an enclosed vehicle you can't control and every x days you get out and visit a town where there's an event.' If they had set it in a sci fi spaceship it would've been utterly unmemorable.
i think we could do better now, though. keep the periods of close-quarters confinement and sol material in the towns but add cdc-type events and mini-events that hinge on character action and grant badass rewards to the people that do. slap some in-game rewards on anything and people lose their shit.
